  1. Woul be cool to hear from you guys :-). Thanks Cycle and Crow. @Riaan we didnt decide rigth now but first of course near CT to gain knowledge of the nice city. Than we want to see, your region is of course an option. How should I contact you? @Hyperventilate in fact i grew up the most of my life in Switzerland. That is why I even cant speak the language there. But i do have relatives in Africa and i visit Africa regulary. But the opposite of South Africa, in Nort Africa :-). Algeria.
  2. Hi all We have decided to come from the 11.2.13 - 26.2.13. We already booked the flight to Capetown. And we want to take place in the Garden Route 300 Race in Knysna. Thanks for the hints. I am sure that will be perfect in your country. At the End i will be angry that we only have a little bit more as two weeks :-). Who wants to show me some trails between 12.2.-19.2. :-). Anybody is welcome.
  3. @Smolster is SunCity near CapeTown? If Yes of course I will do that. But how should I contact you? For anyone who is willing to help :-). I need some Contact-Details Guys. Or at the End I am far away from home and so alone :-). @JanMTB If i study the Map then i See Stellenbosch is right by Capetown. Until now I didnt decide where i should sleep @iRide In fact it would be an option. The problem ist that i train 5 days a week. I am far away from a professional Mountainbiker but i am also far away from a person who drives his MTB only rarely. And the most Tours I saw are to less sporty for me. And I like to have days and talks with people from the country I am. From people like you. The Problem with maps are sometimes that if you have only a map and you have to look on the map every wcrossway so you can bike 5min and have to stop to look on the map :-). @JGR in which region of capetown do you and your Mrs. stay? It is only that I can make better plans :-). Sorry guys for my stupid English, i know. Of course I will check your Site and give you Feedback.
  4. Hey JGR nice to see you :-) @Ratty that sounds really interesting. Hmm i have to think about that. That would mean I have to make my holidays from 11.2.-28.2. :-) This race is with a partner right? So if the friend is willing to come will decide. Are you going to the race too? @Berg Bok thanks for the fast answer. What would be your idea to contact you?
  5. I think I want to come to Capetown. Now I have to choose the different possibilities and decide if I want to move to the region of Durban. Now a litte a more exactly question. Who in the Region of Capetown would be interested to ride a half or a whole day (from 28.1. to for example 8.2.) with a sporty uphiller from switzerland? Meals or Coffee are of course on my Bill :-)
  6. @Tumbleweed Thanks for the Website. It seems interesting but in my opinion I dont really like this Tourist Tours where you also can speak german :-). I want to go to a new country to see their own culture. Even if you have electricity :-). @Crow Thanks for the two Tour-Tips. For me the second Tour seems exactly that what i am looking for this 3 weeks. Tours around 50km and 2000 metres ascent. Of course I can spend some days in this 3 weeks with the special things you advised (like Elephant riding :-)) or sightseeing but at most I want to see the nature with my two wheels. The problem is I like to do the Tour without to see every 5 minutes on the Map. That is why I ask you guys. If you anyway like to bike and need a training so you could come with me. Its a Win-Win Situation, isnt it? I see the Tour without a map in my hands and you have training with someone who pays a meal/coffee or thngs we need. We Mountainbiker all love coffee, dont we? :-) Hehe a friend already sent me the video with the Biker who was attacked. It hurts even looking at the Video. We only have cows whisch until now never attacked me. But they are big too :-). Now I am scared. But i still love Milk.
  7. @tubehunter and Crow That is not a bad idea :-). I mean i am a little bit free in my time. I thought first to come in December but with Crows opinion I am thinking about End of January. But End of Februaray or March is to late. Thats a little bit the problem. Are there no races between December and the Beginning of February? @SwissVan I saw on the map from Capetown to Plettenberg is near the coast right? But I would suggest that the mountains arent usual near the coast? Or am I wrong? I am from Chur in Switzerland. I dont know if you know this city :-). In the South of Switzerland near the mountains. @selous scout I looked on the Map where Port Elizabeth is. Thats a little bit after Plettenberg from Capetown.Plettenberg is the place which SwissVan said. Yes Port Elizabeth is probably xomparable to Lucerne. They have both water :-). We a little lake and you the big big sea. So I would suggest both place are nice.
  8. Dont argue because of me :-) @Berg Bok In my opinion the grabouw semmst the best. But to be honest, all the pictures seems nice but to feel them in nature counts more. @Cavendish I am only 1.55. This is small and not perfect to have alot of womans ;-) but perfect to climb. @Crow Yes of course i have to look first, I cant ask everything. Hehe the questions are funny especially the last one.
  9. @Cavendish Cannondale Flash Carbon 1 @Crow So you have once to go to France, Netherlands and Switzerland. If there are some people who would show me some trails I want to do that in return. I will give some answers... Why SA? I am not really a friend of Snow. I know this is not really usual for a Swiss perhaps that is because my dad is from a warm region (North Africa). And since several years I try to make some holidays where the people have summer when we have winter. For exampe i was once in Costa Rica. And SA seems to be great. No Jetlag for example :-). What do I ride? I ride a Bike which has 8.2kg including everything (do you guys measure in kg?) and I am 52kg. This makes around 60kg. That is perfect for climbing. I love to do Bikemarathon Races here in Switzerland. Just for Fun but they have for example a distance of 100kma and 4000 Metres difference in altitude (climbing). What else? I love to see new things. That is why i am really sure that i will enjoy SA. I have some months until End of January. So i can use the Web so gain some Sightseeing Tips? Or the help of people like you :-). Electricity? Hehe, funny question :-). I work in the electricity market in Switzerland. I dont really know alot about your country but i know that you generate the most of electricity with coal and oil. Right guess? Kids? I dont have them :-). And my friend is staying in the snow. She and the most of my friends do like the snow. I plan to come alone, so I am alot more flexible than. @Crow and Wonder Woman That means I have to choose between Cape Town and Sabie. Would it make sense to see both in 3 weeks or is that not senseful in this time?
  10. Hi all. It is nice to see the kindness of the people from SA. Thanks for the answers. @Crow I will think about changing my holiday Time from December to End of January. Your opinion about avoiding the Touristtime sounds really good. It is also really nice that you offer to ride a day with me. Even if you dont know if I am a stupid Swiss :-). Do you ride alot with some people from abroad? Of course I would take my Mountainbike with me. You know that, we Bikers love to ride the Bike we are used to. @manbearpig You live in Johannesburg. Of course we in Switzerland heard alot about this city. But would you also say that Capetown oder Durban is better for Biking? I would say your opinion would count alot. You know Johannesburg really good. @Berg Bok Your answer is the second (after Crow) who would advise to go End of January? @Berg Bok and Clint_ZA Thanks for the offer. Why is that no Problem for you guys in SA to show somone you dont know some tours? Of course this is really nice but even in the friendliest place you find some people who are a liitle bit special :-). @all Wouldnt it be necessary that we all known us a little bit more? If you want to ask something about me to be sure if you want to show me some trails: Go on i am prepared for any questions :-). @KnobbyMech and Crow Hehe that means I have now 3 Area of which i have to choose. Your country is so big so i cant visit all 3. Hmm that means i have to choose. In which of the 3 regions (Cape Town, Durban, Sabie) are the biggest mountains? I ask because the most i love is to ride uphill and have a great visit over the nature from above. There must be any kind of differences in the region. Arent there? I will have something about 3 weeks. I know this are not 2 months but I think if I read your answers I will see a great nature.
  11. Hi BioMouse Thanks for the answer and the logical hint. But to be honest I dont really care. I want to go to the part of SA which is the best to do some great tours. I love Mountains and I think there have to be some mountains to bike. I am also really thankful for any kind of hints in which region I should go. And at the End i am sorry for my English. I know it is far from perfect :-).
  12. Hi Sportfriends I'm considering to come (December or January) to South Africa. I would like to escape from the snow in Switzerland :-). I heard your country is really beautiful and has a great nature for Mountainbiking. I am an active Mountainbiker (especially uphill). Therefore, a holiday tour (with any one provider) is not really a solution for me. Now I've got the tip from a friend in Cape Town to ask on this Site. Does anyone of you want to show (no matter if only a 1/2 day or the whole) me his/her favorite track? Of course I would pay a coffee or/and the lunch or whatever we need as a Thank you. Or do you have other tips? Thank you and the best wishes from far North. Salah
