Thanks, I suppose that my bike is trying to tell me something!

I was riding yesterday, after a 2 month layoff, and towards the end of the ride, my tyre burped off the rim. I have been riding the tyre for about 9 months and it still has good tread. It is my front tyre and I pumped it up to the normal pressure of 1.9bar. what is strange is that the tyre would not sit again and the beading seems to have softened. Has this happened to anyone before? What could the cause be? it is a Racing Ralph UST 2.1 inch

I am looking at changing my mtb tyres from the current Crossmax and monotrails to Swalbe Racing Ralphs. The issue I have is that the 2.25's will be too wide on my back wheel (I don't have much clearance and I will have problems in muddy conditions). My questions are: 1. Is there an issue with running a 2.25 on the front and a 2.1 on the back? 2. Where is the bigger benefit of running wider tyres? The back / front ? Thanks
