  1. Anyone have video footage of some crashes at Die Burger MTB Challenge? I came off my bike badly and know there was a rider with a GoPro behind me, would love to see the footage.
  2. So it seems the Polar Wearlink+ with bluetooth, not the H7, is the one to get for Android phones. Works via Bluetooth. Quite pricey, equivellent to bottom of range polar HR Monitor + watch. R1017 at have2have. Anyone know where else to buy this for cheaper?
  3. Apparently you can purchase an USB ant device to be able to connect ANT devices to your phone? I thinks? I'm sure its not as easy to setup? There is also the Runtastic HR monitor kit from sportsmans, it apparently works with S3, wonder if this will work on other tracking apps like Sportypal.
  4. Hi, Anyone know which heart rate monitor will connect to my Galaxy S3 and using the SportyPal application?
  5. The photos are on the facebook of “Celeste Shadows Photography”.
  6. When and where will the results and photos be available?
  7. Hehe. Yupp. Hardly slept. Up early for first ride, but damn rain. Dont really want to take her through the puddles day1 if you know what I mean. Hehe. You went tubeless? How much they charge you? Are these tyres and rims tubeless compatible? I heard going tubeless is maintenance nightmare and if something goes wrong in race, ur buggered, where with tubes you can just swap out or patch?
  8. Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Got great deal on Scott Scale 940 29er today, so took the plunge without testing it. Hopefully kick my own times I made on the Merida that weighs 1kg more, else buyers blues!
  9. That was the original idea. Probably get a hole lot more for my buck if I went 26". All my friends have 26ers and still trying to convince me, bu tkeep telling them they havent tried the 29er, so don't judge until then. I might borrow one of their 26" bikes and see if the 30 gear setup will improve my times over the 29er I had on loan. Must admit the 29er hardtail road a lot softer and roles nicely over every bump. Do like the 29er after the ride. Climbed back onto my 26er yesterday and felt like BMX and tough climbing the hills on those 24gears. Still wondering if it was the gears or the big wheels that made the climb up the hill so glorious.
  10. Has this deal expired? Tried clicking on it, but asks me for email address so it can tell me about the offer next time.
  11. Scott Scale Team not bad, but don't want spring loaded forks ever again, nothing just above that? I don't think I can go wrong with the Merida BigNine TFS D-900 though. Noone dissing it. Just called cyclecity for test ride on the Scott Scale 940, but they can only get demo bikes in 1 or 2 months. Not gonna wait that long. Anyone know of place that does have demo Scott Scale 940? Anyone know where I can get Merida BigNine XT for R15k?
  12. Does no one like the Merida BigNine TFS-900d ?? I want to lean this way. Seems obvious choice?
  13. Scott 29er 10k?? Which one and where?
  14. Vida 1 = R17k - Looks nice. :-) Momsen al729 = R19k bit out of my price bracket.
  15. Budget 13-15k - Need to be competitive for regular PPA/CSA/Dirtopia races and daily fitness riding on eg. Majic Forest or Meerendal. My old 2002 26er has reached its limit. My preference in order, 1. Merida BigNine TFS 900-D - R13000 - 12.7kg - Awesome ride and brakes are sharp, got loan bike and comfy and tough. 2. Scott Scale 940 - R14999 - 11.9kg - Well spec'ed, Didnt feel right on the bike, but only road around inside the shop. 3. Merida BigNine TFS XT - 16999 - 12.4kg - Obviously same ride as the 900-D, just better spec'ed and weighs a tad less. 4. Giant XTC 29er1 - R13500 - 12.7kg - Would like this bike, but Spec'ed to low, but nice frame and could feel it when I sat on it. Sat very similar to Merida I might be getting the 900-D, just because I got the loan bike and liked it. Am I rushing things? Where can I get a Scott or Giant to test ride in and around Bellville or Cape Town?
  16. Hi, I'm am in the market for a 13k 29er MTB. The one that best suits my wallet is the Merida BigNine TFS 900-D. 2012 weighs in at 12.7kg, wieghed it in the shop. I assume the 2013 range is lighter? I beat all my regular ride(Giant ATX840 2002 26") times on the loan Merida and fell in love with it.Not sure if it was the big wheels up the hills or the 30speed vs the 24speedster. 3.5km from bottom of majic forest to top at 182m incline: Giant ATX840 2002 = 19min25sec Merida BigNine TFS 900-D 2012 = 16min26sec The shops now have the 2012 and 2013 coming soon, does anyone have a picture of the 2013 looks like and the specs? Also some feedback if this is a good choice? The Giant XTC 29er2 is in same price range, but low spec and the jump to the next level is about 5k in the giant range. Scott Scale 940 also looks promising if I had to push the money bar a bit, but sat on one and didn't feel right, the merida felt better. Any advice and specs?
