Got my first ever cycling shoes: new Bontragers MTB for R700 after negotiations. Is that a good price? http://www.marsavius.net/shtuff/cycling/bontrager-race-mountain-bike-shoes.jpg Apparently this is old stock, but damn that price lets me have a pair without feeling guilty!

Took my old Momsen and new frame to them ,asking them to build all components over to the new frame. Oh, and I wanted it wanted the next day which was a Friday: They came through for me in flying colors. I live close to Linden, which I agree is great, but I can never get Linden open during the week, whereas Solomons is 3 mins (ok actually 5 minutes) from work! The cost: R80 straightening the front wheel (on my request) R0 swopping front and back brake levers R300 service/labour R299 middle chain ring (also my request) R299 crank bearing All in, I think it was treated most fairly, and will def go back there.

Is it a good idea? I promise not to aim at bearings! Also which models are OK but not more than R3k?

So I received my Mtb yesterday. A 2nd hand hardtail 29er. Assembled and took it out for the obligatory up and down the road. Under hard braking the spokes squeak, should I ignore or clean or lube where the spoke cross?

LOL. When I met my SO I sold my Merc and bought a purple ( think Barney the dinosaur) ford Fiesta coz she dared me. I ended up driving Barney for more than a year. Thanks much for the constructive input, NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!

I was thinking of getting a second set of wheels+slicks for the 94.7, and since smaller wheels are cheaper...

I come from a motocross/enduro background, and quite like the look of these: http://www.buycycle....fox-racing.html for my first helmet. On a Mx bike you are moving fast , but not so sure if this type of helmet on a Mtb will be cool enough in sunny SA?

As I am about to re-enter the cycling world after an absence of about 16 years I am reading all there is to know about the newer things to know since the last time I was on a MTB. Out of curiosity, will 26 inch rims fit on my 29er? Why? Curiosity I suppose...
