Every Thursday evening throughout the year, Mountain Events holds a timed short course race in the Baakens Valley, PE Mountain Bikers and Trail Runners are catered for, with separate routes for each. The MTB lap is 3,1km and the Trail Run is 2,6km Cost is R20 with occasional sponsored prizes and giveaways Format is: complete as many laps as you can / want in 1 hour Riders and runners are timed with RFID chips and full results published each week. Its a fantastic course, offering a good mix of fun singletrack and just enough jeeptrack to allow for passing.   4. In the Adventure Province of the Eastern Cape, in the quaint town of Somerset East (only 180km from PE and 250km from East London), lies The Boschberg Tourism Village (also known as The HUB) . Here, against the majestic backdrop of the Boschberg mountain, the Boschberg Classic will thrill both mountain bikers and trail runners alike with the brand new purpose built trails designed & constructed by Dirtopia’s Meurant Botha . His extensive trail knowledge, background and international experience is evident in the quality of the singletrack which participants will be treated to. The reserve possesses a large variety of vegetation ranging from densely wooded forests and grassy plains to Karoo succulents and fynbos. Teeming with wildlife, the reserve is home to well over 320 bird species, including the elusive Knysna Loerie and, in summer and spring, Blackcap, Cape Eagle Owl and Buff Streaked Chat. The venue also features top-class ablution facilities and a dedicated sports hall which will serve as the race village for the weekend. Food & Beverages will be on sale throughout the weekend.
