  1. Thanks guys. Anyone else?
  2. Aaaan I'm back again. Decided on a Silverback Alpine 1 for myself for R5900 (over budget but hopefully worth it) and have been trying to find a decent small frame for my SO without much luck. I have been looking at some second-hand bikes and came across this; Zaskar GT Expert for R5900 and another one for much more. Now the guy in the second add (after googling his cell nr) seems to sell a myriad of things mostly consisting of quad bikes etc. Can you guys/gals please give me your thoughts on this matter...?
  3. Well I have Led Lenser (P7 and the headlight H7), Fenix, Jetbeam, Zebralight and quite a few budget lights from China. The fenix and Jetbeam lights are well constructed and offer good value for money. My first light was the LED lenser ones and at the time I thought they were amazing. They are ok now but fall way behind my other lights. Favourite has to be Zebralight...nothing comes close IMHO when it comes to their User interface as well as the efficiency of their lights (I have two SC600's and a H600 headlight). Awesome little pieces of tech Edit: Next I'm looking forward to one of these little monsters
  4. Good point. I have a big head so need to fit them and go from there
  5. Thanks for the replies! Agreed on first accent... I have quite a few hiking products from them and they honestly haven't held up well at all. I always thought the rudy project helmets cost an arm and a leg... R450 must have been a lekker bargain <img src='https://cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum//public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
  6. I see there aren't too many topics on helmets. As me and the SO are starting out I'm curious what you guys and gals are wearing. Also where is a decent place to buy that won't ripp you off. Other than that where are good places to shop for decent chamois and what brands should we be looking out for.? What other tools and accessories would you consider essential for newbies.? Appreciate any input
  7. THREAD NECRO ALERT: Just before anyone tries to decapitate me for resurrecting such an old thread Any ideas who else supplies Silverback.....? Trying to do the same as the OP originally. Silverback's website only lists one person with a Tel nr. and thats it.
  8. Heya Clint Also interested in the specials tomorrow... Hopefully it's worthwhile
  9. Also looking at the Nevada one which has some great components for a very decent price.... How long have you had yours for...?
  10. Also been looking at the Fuji bikes as the are specced really well it seems. From what I have read on international forums it also looks like people have a rather high opinion of them.....Anyone else here been riding one...?
  11. In would if they had one in 17". There is only 19 and 21.
  12. Thoughts on this bike guys? http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/hardtails/exile/12_exilesport.html There's no more in my size for the trek :/
  13. Trek 6000 for R5k Thoughts...?
  14. Guys any idea if Linden cycles are open on a Sunday?
  15. Are there any other brick and mortar shops worth visiting in JHB....?
  16. Thanks for all the advice guys. I would love to go second hand but the issue here is of course that I would be clueless when it comes to what to look for in a good buy. I have some time so can wait for end of year clearance sales as well if it will be worth it....
  17. Hi guys and gals. Me and the So are trying to figure out what bikes to get for ourselves and frankly the informations surrounding all the brands and specs of the bikes are a bit overwhelming. So Ive come here to ask for some advice. We are probably very casual riders and will most likely never compete (unless the aim is only to finish ) but we are looking for something "decent" at a reasonable price. I know my SO will be happy with whatever I get but personally I want something that will at least last us a awhile. So onto the meaty end of this post. Any recommendations..? Is it better to got for a lesser known better spec'd bike or the other way around? Also I see a lot of talk around the 26'er vs 29'er debate. Is it worth paying attention to if we are just casual bikers..? Any input will be greatly appreciated
