  1. Hi there As the topic implies, I am looking for the contact details of the person that does carbon framework repairs in potchefstroom. I would also appreciate some testimonials and feedback from former clients.
  2. Ok, so I accidentally pulled the brake lever when the disc was not in place... Since then the brakes wont open up prperly and clamp onto my disc. The wheel can hardly turn. I re-aligned the callipers manually by pushing them back in place, but every time I push the lever, it shuts again. I had to do a race with these conditions!!! So now what? I heard I have to bleed the brakes. So I'm organising a Avid/Juicy bleeding kit. My lbs tech told me that maybe the seal is broken too. Can that be? and if so how do I fix/ replace it. Any tech guru's out there, please help!
  3. (2011 Specialized Stumpjumper HT carbon expert 29er) Shoe...thats a mouth full Want to buy a second hand one (getting it for a good price). I've read a lot of bad things about the avid brakes and factory fitted wheels. Other than that, is this a good racing bike? And how is the feel and weight compared to other racing bikes? Any hubbers who own one or have done so in the past, please help me out. Thanks
  4. All I know is Remerx is Czeck Rep and the wheelsets are in the same light weight category as AM Classics. Just want to know if anybody, except the dude I'm buying the bike from, owns one or has heard of them, cause I also havn't and google too?
  5. Hi Hubbers Need inputs on above topic. Struggling to find reviews on remerx. I have a set of AM Classics and super happy with them. Gona buy a bargain with these Remerx Magic 29er rims. Wanna know if I should let the AM Classics go and keep the Remerx or vice versa. Thanx
  6. Hi there A guy that rides with me occasionally were not very impressed with them. Some models have a rider weight limit (usually 85kg or 95kg). If you weigh less than that, i'm sure you'll be fine. He weighed more than that and destroyed them on the first ride. But that is the only ref I've had so far. He put easton rims on and havn't looked back since
  7. I'm a bit new in the mtb world. Left road cycling a year ago and havn't looked back since. These american classic wheels, will they out perform my current 29 wheels (syncros? hub, dt swiss spokes and alex rims rim on a scott scale 940) at my weight of 71kg? And if so, why?
  8. My current wheelset came with the bike. Syncros? hubs, DT swiss black spokes and alex rims rim. Just wondered if this upgrade to american classic will really make such a huge difference?
  9. Yeah, had a long, boring discussion with the minister of finance (wife) in my family. Unfortunately I wont be able to get the race set, but i guess the all mountain set (150g heavier) will suffice.
  10. Shoe, XTR is a bit above my budget.
  11. They do look pretty awesum...love the red colour for the hubs.
  12. A bike shop suggested I take a look at American Classic wheelset. They look strong and light. I'm a bit unfamiliar with this brand. Reviews on bike radar looks good. Not many comments from users of the product. Any one out there ride them? The terrain I ride is tough on rims. My weight is 71kg. Comments will be appreciated, as I have the funds available to buy them.
  13. I've been looking at durable, light weight wheelsets. I ride tough terrain. One of my bike shop dealers recommended American Classic 29 Tubeless wheelsets. I am new to this brand and would appreciate some inputs before I commit to the purchase. I read a review on bike radar, but need more inputs from guys who actually own a set. My wheight is 71kg.
  14. Thanx alot I'm gonna take them. Shimano parts are widely available if sumthin happens to them.
  15. Thanx. How regularly do you train on rough, bumpy, rocky terain? And if you wouldn't mind, what's your weight? I weigh 70 kg's but regularly play around in tough terrain.
  16. Thanks. Don't want to sell my old set. Want to keep them as spares. You interested in selling them seperately?
  17. I want to upgrade my current wheelset. Any coments on Shimano XT 29er wheelset? I'm struggling to get info on weight, reviews, how they compare to other factory fitted wheelsets, etc. Any advice and inputs would be appreciated.
  18. As do the easton and fulcrum sets. I'm not clued up with custom sets? The reason I want a factory fitted wheelset is cause I stay in the bundus and can't get to the big city so regularly. My local bike shop can get Shimano wheels and the parts needed if they break. I weigh 71kg, so i'm sure it will be tough enough for me.
  19. Thanx for the speedy reply Don't have that kind of money now. Will save up. Whats your view on a XT wheelset? They look tough and light.
  20. I recently bought a 29er (at last). It is a Scott Scale 940 (2013). It has A combo wheelset of: Hubs - Syncros Spokes - DT Swiss Rim - Alexrims I want to upgrade to a lighter wheelset for racing. My bike weight is 12 kg (large) at the moment. Will I shead some weight or must I cont my current wheelset? I Have R5000 to spend. Which wheelset should I go for? Looking at brands like fulcrum, easton or Shimano XT.
