  1. Rapunzel, if you do this event you'll soon why it is worth the money! Think of it as a donation to CANSA!
  2. Event Name: STBB 2keep-a-breast MTB Challenge When: 19 October 2013 Where: Overgaauw Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, Western Cape Category: MTB The STBB 2-keep-a-breast MTB challenge and family day, organised by national law firm STBB Smith Tabata Buchanan Boyes, has become known as one of the best organised and most enjoyable MTB events on the calendar. All proceeds are donated to CANSA and Cancervive for breast cancer research. This is so much more than just a charity mountain biking event : large Bedouin chill out tents where riders can rest their weary legs and meet up with friends, an organic food market with a wide range of delicious meals and snacks to suit every palate, artisan beers, wine tasting, and activities to keep the children entertained. 45km, start 07h30, cost R160 35km, start 08h00, cost R130 15km, start 08h15, cost R110 5km, start 08h30, cost R40 Enter online at www.quicket.co.za ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS: 45 km The 45 km is an extended version of the 35 km route and includes an extra 5 kms of single track, bringing the total distance of single track on the route to 10 kms. Riders will need to bring their climbing legs, as they can expect to climb 1500 metres on the day to conquer the 4 big climbs waiting for them. The rewards however are stunning views and some of the best flowing single track around. As is the case with the 35 km route, riders will start with a lung-bursting 6 km long climb to the top of the Bottelary Hills before reaching single track nirvana. This year a new section of single track is included that will make you smile all over when gunning down and through 5 switchbacks into Wolfkloof Valley, but the grin might just be wiped off your face when you have to climb out of the valley again! Riders should not underestimate the two longer distances. Average riders can expect to ride at an average speed of 12km/h, meaning they will take at least 4 hours to complete the route. Do not attempt this route if you are not fit. 35 km We have added another 2 km of single-track tot the 35 km route this year, bringing the single track sections to about 5 km. With a total ascent of 960 meters, riders must not underestimate the distance – the 35 km compares to a 40 km route on most other funrides. Within 150 metres after the start riders will start with a lung-bursting 6 km climb to the top of the Bottelary Hills, where the stunning views and beautiful flowing single track will be the reward for the climb. The next 14 kms will be easy riding with the second major climb (3 kms long) on the route awaiting riders just after the 20 km mark. After crossing the top of the hill, another two sections of single track and flowing jeeptrack will take riders to the finish line, ending with an easy 4 km downhill smile all the way to the finish line. 15 km Last year’s 16 km route was a bit too tough for the beginners and the not-so-fit riders. We have listened to your feedback and designed a totally new 15 km route without any leg-breaking climbs. This year the 15 km route consists of 2 loops of 7,5 km each with a total ascent of 320 meters. The route follows beautiful sections of farm roads and jeep tracks lined with trees and crosses over 3 dam walls for a lovely ride. The 15 km route completes two rounds of the WHITE route. 5 km The 5 km is suitable for children and this year loops around Overgaauw and also the neighbouring farm. This route is easy and very safe and offers interesting sights on the farms. The expected ascent is about 60 metres. The 5 km route completes one round of the WHITE route. Riders must follow the WHITE route up to the GREEN line and then follow the GREEN line as a shortcut joining up with the WHITE route again to complete their distance. There will be plenty of marshals en route showing your children exactly where to go and making sure that they’re safe. Go to Event Page
