This is awesome. So many great ideas. I'm going to collate them all when this thread dies, and we'll run a vote to see which one is most popular, and then take it from there.

I'm in the research phase. I have nothing so far. Just trying to find a problem, and solve it. What on earth is 4D route tracking?

I'm obviously not making a cycle app for the sake of it, otherwise I wouldn't even bother asking you guys what you wanted. I'd like to solve problems, and create something FREE/SPONSORED that everyone would enjoy and appreciate. So to sum up the responses: 1. 3d route tracking (including corners and climb). 2. A local social track finder with the ability to add routes and share them in SA. 3. A warning/crime avoiding app. 4. A proper mechanic app. 5. More girls. On and off bikes. Have I left anything out?

Is status important? Would you enjoy a sort of achievement-based app that gave you physical and virtual rewards and discounts when you reached your goals, or achieved new records? Also a way to show off to your cycling friends and partners?

Safety seems to be important. Without it being community based (i.e. reliant on the app users) how else could we find the danger zones?

I'm working on developing a new mobile cycling application. I've fiddled around a bit, and done some research on what is out there. I like Strava, and enjoy some of the route planners, but so far, nothing seems particularly special. I'd really like to do something that everyone would appreciate. So, if you would like to let me know what you feel would make a cycling app more usable, attractive, and must-have, I would be most appreciative. Post it up here, and I promise I'll do my best to integrate it into our new (FREE) app. - The Marketing Guy
