  1. In may of 2008 we moved from somerset west to gauteng. Not knowing who to cycle with I went out alone for a couple of mornings. One morning, I got into my gear and started from <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Ferndale past linden high school, northcliff corner in the direction of greymont. About 1km past Northcliff corner you get a little dip in the road before the start to a slow climb through greymont to Ontdekkers. I didn?t enjoy the ride this morning, the bike sucked to the road and hence I decided to rather turn around and head back home. The whole trip will be tried again the following morning.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> As I turned around there was a bunch of about seven guys coming from the Northcliff corner direction, in a final attempt at saving the ride I decided to turn around and join the group. As we cycled, and as it is with the more social riders, two of the guys started talking to me and I noticed that we where riding into areas to which I was not at all familiar with(the zoo lake, parktown area). All was well and enjoyable until the guys suddenly stopped at a house, waited for an electrical gate to open and slowly started disappearing into a driveway. I might have mentioned that I was lost and did not know where I was. An invitation was forwarded for me to join them, and being lost obviously I gladly accepted. It turned out that it was a breakfast ride in honour of one of the guys having celebrated his birthday. As I came around the corner I noticed two tables covered with fresh strawberries and cream, joghurt, muesli, gourmet savoury snacks, champagne, tea, coffee, juice, chocolate brownies and, and, and,??? WOW I was blown away. After having met everyone including the birthday boy(Jan whose house it was) at the table and introducing myself as the lost guest; all joined the table and shared in the ?feast?. And a feast it was. Afterwards some of the guys escorted me to familiar terrain. Anyway thanks to all for a wonderful experience, and great hospitality. Roadies are the best.
  2. sorry, no space. in our home that is my wifes space, she is also in charge of the remote.
  3. you guys have between 1900 and 4000 posts, wow thats dedication between being on the bike and still having time for the hub, well that is time management and then there is the wife and then the family in that order, excellent, no more time for the in laws.
  4. Since i've joined, i've found the hub to be an excellent place to chat, check out intersting topics, good advice etc, etc I have also noticed my wife getting annoyed at the amount of time i spend watching the hub. thanks to everyone that makes this worth the while. i am assuming that i am not the only hubber to find this site a little addictive.
  5. after 22 pages of non-stop quality comments its is amazing to finally see the result as being.......... well lets get to what really happened, and wish the dude well.
  6. you guys are playing around with the wrong triangle. another experiment lean your bike against the wall with the saddle and handlebars touching the wall. next put your foot on the crank closest to the bb apply pressure and see the frame bend towards the wall at the bottom end. this is the kind of flex you experience when you jump in a race and sprint or climb and actually have enough power in your legs to ride up a hill with power without dying halfway. Alu has more flex than a ti frame ti is thus more responsive based on the rigidity of the ride and has the added advantage of being extremely light carbon will also be very stiff and light save yourself some money and buy alu or get a bond and go ti
