  1. Baie dankie vir die geleentheid wat julle ons bied om sulke awesome trails te ry. 3dae namekaar. Reeds ingeskryf soos belowe het en ook baie opgewonde om dae met julle te deel. Slanghoek Louis
  2. Morning I a m available for route marking and responsibility around route if the event organisers are willing to give me a call. Louis
  3. Morning I was the route manager of day 3. Pro's were there. Chris Wolhuter, Dillan Rebelo, Jurgens Uys, Stefan Senekal, Nicol Carstens, Charl-Pierre Esterhuizen. Iqela events were the race organizers. It was only our second event. So thanks for criticism. Slanghoek Louis
  4. Finally. The time is today. Registration today and hitting the trail tomorrow morning at 8h00.We had to do some major cleanup after the storms and rebuild bridges. Glad to inform that you are in for some real mountain biking in the mountains. Get your technical riding cap on. Both long and lite routes are technical. Lite version just shorter. Please note that if you are not the greatest technical rider, please don't start in the front group. Only day 1 has a lekker long gravel road in the beginning to get your legs warmed up. Day 2 has a short gravel section before Kliphoutkloof. Day 3 has again a short section of tar called Remhoogte before you climb into the vineyards. Day 1 is loonnngg and technical in the middle. Day 2 is loonnngg and technical all the way. Day 3 is short and technical the first half. You shall enjoy your time in our valleys and mountains. Great to have you in the Breedekloof valley. Remember the cellars you pass by name. Do visit them and taste the riches. Thanks for visiting. Slanghoek Louis.
  5. Morning. Just want to share with you. We were climbing the tar road on the Mosterdhoek farm and there were farm workers, mostly women and children cheering the riders on. We past and greeted as always and one of the riders behind us asked the question: "Het julle nie vir my n engine nie?" The reply was absolutely amazing. "Nee meneer, ons het nie entjies ( cigarettes ) nie, ons het net twak!" We burst out laughing at that remark. It was really funny at that stage. Slanghoek Louis
  6. There were many debates and issues around long and short routes joining near the end of a race / ride that we as riders got that changed to a great extent. I am going to pursue this idea. We can make a difference. Please give me some more opinions Slanghoek Louis
  7. Don't know about 2 starting blocks. Ppa has so many marshalls present that I can't forsee problems starting together. With the little tar and the the landing strip and De Liefde gravel road they are going to sort each other out for sure Slanghoek Louis
  8. What if we start the day with 60km MA number and 30km MA riders and 60km MB and 30km MB together and so on. My opinion is that they are going well together as they are all racing snakes. Slanghoek Louis
  9. Hi glad you enjoyed your time. I shall give it through to Riaan Botha as he is the route manager. Slanghoek Louis
  10. Hi. Did the 30 km route. Suffered up Boesmanskop as always. Brought a nice piece of farm. It will be taken further with the landowner to get my piece on paper, hehe. Thanks for the guy's helping me out of the way and asking if I am alive. Great event put together in my opinion. Slanghoek Louis
  11. Hi. The routes did change. Not in distance or area. Every day the route manager changes. Each route has its own manager and he changed his route purely cause of landowner problems or for upgrades to the route. You can use last year's event as a measure. You won't be far off. Slanghoek Louis
  12. Hi Carlen. Yes I shall be bringing 5 of them this year. We shall be on the 30 km route. GravelandGrape 2016 route building took away alot of our training hours so we are not so fit as we want to be. We are so looking forward to racing and riding your event, especially that new single track that Riaan Botha and his team built. It's really awesome. We have ridden it a few times and it is awesome. So much passion in mountain biking is really a blessing. Riaan Botha is really a great trail builder. Looking forward to Saturday morning. Slanghoek Louis.
  13. Hi guys and gals. You are going to be sorry if you have not entered. This is real mtb stuff. You did buy a mtb. "Mountain bike" and not a "Gravel grinder bike" . So come and ride your mtb in mtb territory. We are so, so privileged to have a beautiful natural environment to enjoy our sport. The Breedekloof area has so much to offer. Come and experience some riding and racing in our valleys and mountains. Once you have enjoyed real mountain biking, you shall have the right to say I am a real "Mountain biker" . Any rock and hill and downhill I can ride with confidence. Enter our stage race and be what you are. A mountain biker. Riding our bikes are what's is important and mostly be caused we want to enjoy it and be free! Thanks for your support and your love for our sport! !!!! Slanghoek Louis
  14. Please note that the 30 km route is very demanding en technical. Not and really not for a novice or beginner. We do ride the route alot so it is not difficult anymore cause of experiences. Just one really good tip going in the tech stuff is to lock up in front. It really helps as you shall see. We do it all the time and payed off many times. Don't worry about the steep side slopes as Riaan Botha built that section before the devastating fire and the side slopes were covered by vegetation, blinding it's steepness from you. Slanghoek Louis
