  1. Big H, Me and some guys from our area got fed up with the hijacking *** so we set up a local club and organise regular group rides in the area. So far had a big response from MTB riders but just 2 enquiries about the road and they both want to rather ride MTB's anyway. We actively discourage littering and pull guys up if we see it so I wouldn't judge what you don't know. At the end of the day it's about having fun and we should all do our bit to make it as enjoyable as possible. On the topic of structures for punishing, there are planty of trees around
  2. KonaFan, I run X-country but I'm v slow. Some are fast, the faster they go the less likely there are to greet you... They usually have mp3 players in their ears too. There are definately a load of roadies converting to MTB as apparently it's too dangerous on the roads! lol, send them all our way for a few extreme sports rides around where the hijackers are and the non-polite ones will soon go back to the roads.
  3. Hey Punk!!! (Love typing that!). My experience is that 98% of MTB riders on trails will greet you if you say hi but this is more like only half if you're on a dirt road and not a trail. Roadies even less. Road runners only about 5% will great me as an MTB rider. X-country runners, about 90% will great me as an MTB rider but 99% of X-country runners will great me when I do a trail run. Conclusion, us trail riders / trail runners are just friendlier folk and thats cool.
  4. Yep, agreed. Mostly MTB riders tend to be a pretty responsable and cool bunch but there are a few pillocks around who think they can litter or frighten the wild life and its fine. Maybe a quick dab of pepper spray might help them remember that its not fine.
  5. The guys working there have known about it for quite a while. I fond out from them before christmas. I was there on Saturday and the guys had put in great effort knowing that the place was going to close. I'm also greatful as it made the Puff Adder easier to see on the path through 12 steps. Trust and the crew who've tiedied up the track week in week out have always been friendly and when we've pointed out problem areas over the last few months they've been straight in and fixed them up. Great effort dudes... I hope the future comes right for you guys.
  6. Mistyslav, You're bang on with that. With the exception of those who do live far away the location is not too far out of the city, infact you could argue that it's ideally placed between Jo'burg, Pta & the 'Dorp. I laughed at some guys who regularly drive to Northern Farms who told me it was too far to travel to Logwood! It's the same distance from Jo'burg & only about 5 minutes drive away from the Farm. Sad man.
  7. Nicely put Hog_ Why not bring the 'Goose on Saturday for one last ride there, we'll be happy for you to roll with us.
  8. Me and my mates of the Mongoose Massive will be doing a fairwell tour of Logwood on Saturday meeting at 7:30 for 8am. It would be great if you all could join us. Event details are on our facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=58169618551
  9. But where are the trees, single track, roots, rocks, creeks, drop offs, 90 degree turns followed by steep, rutted, rooted drops and down hill bits with trees hanging over? That's where its at, that's where the fun of Logwood is, er, was. MTN Park is too linear and a bit sterile. Don't get me wrong, it has good bits but it's just not got the same vibe. Maybe it's partly because of the highway or maybe it's just a little too commercial. I can go to MTN maybe once in every couple of months and enjoy it but I could go to Logwood every week & never fail to have a blast.
  10. Hi Mark, It's a very sad day.
  11. I heard this before from people who go ride at Nothern Farms yet Logwood is no further out than there. I even know guys who go to Groenkloof in Pretoria that stay in Jo'burg so although I understand that some okes live far away or have transport issues there should still be plenty of guys who can get there no problem. I bumped into some guys at Logwood that i'd seen at MTM over Christmas and we all agreed that Logwood is much more fun anyway.
  12. I've heard that Logwood will might close in the next month or 2. Can anyone confirm this? I love riding at Logwood but I'm always surprised that there are so few people there. Tell me, why don't more people ride there?
