  1. OK guys here's an update. As mentioned yesterday I went to Bellville SAPS to report the case. I called the guy in the presence of the cops to confirm that the number present on the ad is indeed the person who holds the bike and indeed it was and therefore could be traced using RICA ( finally useful!). Unfortunately the guy has sold the bike but that's only a slight snag according to the cops. I went to the cops again last night handing in more evidence. The detective said he would contact the guy himself in his capacity as a detective and not a bogus buyer. That was last night at 6 and have heard nothing since. They have been surprisingly helpful in comparison previous experiences that I have had and I am grateful for their assistance. I don't want to pressure them as I don't want to piss anyone off but I am still anxious to know so I will call them later today. Now his is where I need your guys help. The AC is quite a common old bike, but the Shiver is hard to come by and will catch any one who knows anything about bikes attention. If anyone sees such a thing posted on any site selling any stuff then please let me know. It may well be the last buyer selling off parts to make a profit. That fork, regardless of it age, is still sort after and that has been my main tag when searching. Thanks for the support manne
  2. well when you're young and don't have wealthy folks that can buy you a 2014 Model V10 when you're 14 years old but still have that passion, a bike like this means the world. I was there. That's why it means so much to me. I've seen kids ride Glory's, Flatlines, Fury's etc coz they asked mommy to buy it. It will never mean as much to them as this did to me. I was young and had no money but had a passion. Yes it was an POS, but I loved it because it was my POS I built it from scratch. Even if I go out now and buy a new Glory, it still won't mean as much to me because of what I put into it. And damn it felt good when I finished it and took it out for my first ride. Most rich kids will never know that feeling, but they will be poorer for not. I earned this bike, unlike the guy who stole it. This is what hurts the most. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way Money isn't everything.
  3. I was new to this when I fitted the Shiver, not knowing what it's effect would be. It caused hairline cracks where the top tube meets the head tube. I had it repaired and made them beef it up. Still risky though but damn that fork is sweet and I couldn't resist fitting back on when I was forced to. I refitted the Shiver about a week before the bike was stolen. Although its heavy, it makes the bike look like its wearing an IronMan suit, and it makes me delusional enough to feel like I can take on anything. I ran out of talent before that fork ran out of ability.
  4. I'm an aircraft maintenance engineer hence my detail and yes it was my bike for playing with and not for my cross country races. This bike I'd take to Contermanskloof or Majik when I felt like a bit of fun PS The shiver did cause cracks on the top tube which I had repaired by Civil Aviation Authority-approved facility. That's why I removed it the first time but put it back later when the other fork broke.
  5. I know people are hating on this bike but assure you it has so much sentimental value that I was in tears when it was stolen. It was like that old chorr that you keep under covers and only drive on Sundays. Even though that Shiver is old, believe me when I say it was like riding on a cloud up front. I battled for a year to find the derailleur up front and eventually found on that fitted. This guy really doesn't know what he's done. Plus he's stupid enough to **** with this community which knows their ****. That's why I found it. Thanks guys
  6. Read my post below This is my bike that was stolen out of my garage last year and thanks to this thread I have found it. SAPS are on the case
  7. Hi Guys I know this is a bit late. That bike belongs to me. It was stolen out of my garage in June last year. The bike is old yes but it had sentimental value as it was the first bike I built up and meant a lot to me so I refused to sell it. As for the fork yes that isn't it's usual fork I only fitted that one as the inflation valve broke on the it's usual fork and so I swopped it out. I by chance stumbled across this thread while searching for other things. I had given up hope on ever finding the bike but I looked anyway and to my horror I found that it was my bike. I have since reported to the SAPS and they have opened a case and assured me the bike will be recovered. Everything that I put on that frame appears to be in place, the only exception if that this **** sprayed it black. I have made a list of all the components on this frame and their even some custom changes on that frame that only I would recognise because as you imagine, spares for a frame of that age are hard to come by. The bike has been reported as stolen so if anyone who reads this has bought please know that you are in possession of stolen goods and will be subject to the same laws as the guy who stole it. If you guys know of any one who has bought this bike please contact me. This prick has whatsapp and so I could see what he looks like on his profile when I saved the number. The cops reckon that this is an easy case for them to solve and will track it down. ( so they say) I know this is an old bike and is not my only bike, but it has sentimental value to me and I was heartbroken when it was stolen. I know every single detail of this thing down to the last pivot bearing. The cops were surprised at the level of detail I could give them and assured me I have strong case. I was offended that this guy couldn't even tell what brand it was even though the Giant badge is staring him in the face. This leads me to believe that he is the one who stole it as no one will buy a bike not knowing its details. I'm appealing for help from the anyone who can help with this
