Event Name: 2017 Beaulieu Challenge When: 11 June 2017 Where: Riversands Farm Village Market - Kyalami, Gauteng Category: Multisport Venue: Riversands Farm Village Market - loads of new trails and even more fun. This will be the 8th year that Beaulieu Prep will be hosting the Beaulieu MTB and Trail Run Challenge. The event includes an awesome 2.5 km, 5 km, 15 km, 25 km and 45 km MTB route options which all start at the Riversands Farm Village Market in the Greater Kyalami Conservancy. Also included is the ever popular 12 km and 5 km trail run. The 25 km and 45 km MTB races incorporate a mix bridle trails, jeep track and plenty of new single track. The 2.5 km, 5 km and 15 km routes meander along the jeep track and single track in and around Riversands Farm and caters for the young and less fit. The 12 km trail run takes athletes into the beautiful Kyalami countryside along river courses, pine and gum tree forests with a few interesting challenges in the mix. The 5km trail run is a fun run and is manageable for less fit and first-time trail runners. Every year we make a huge effort to make this race a truly memorable experience from beginning to end that will hopefully keep you talking for weeks afterwards. For those friends and family members who are not riding or running, there will be loads of activities, great food, drinks, craft beer, music and live entertainment at the Riversands Farm VIllage Market during and after the race. OUT REACH Beaulieu Prep with support from Mix FM is running an outreach programme to collect riding helmets to be distributed through the Diepsloot Moutain Biking Academy. Please bring along donations of new and secondhand helmets on number collection day or race day and leave it in the collection boxes provided. PS.   3. Please PM me your race number and time and I'll forward to Finish Time to correct. Yes, we are very fortunate to be able to utlise the properties for the Beaulieu Challenge. You may be interested to know, the 45km race crosses a total of 22 properties. Discussions are underway to start an MTB and Trail Run Night series, beginning in October which will make use of some of the same trails you rode on during the Beaulieu Challenge.

  5. Great post thank you. We will look at your idea of adding some treats at the 1st watering point. How far into the race was the bottle neck as we'd like to sort that out for next year?
  6. I'm terribly sorry to hear about your bad experience with the MTB race in 2015. Please send all feedback so that we can rectify any issues for future events. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the 12km Trail as this is a new addition to the event which has been received really well.
  7. The youth prize giving was a bit later than the general prize giving, Reason for the difference in time was to accommodate the racing snakes who finished early. We'll look up your daughters details and contact you as she should have received a trophy. Thank you for the suggestion on adding another water table to the 45km. We'll certainly look into that next year.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the event this year starting from the Riversands Farm Village Market and thank you to the main sponsors, Land Rover Waterford, CMC Networks and Game Energy Drink. Without their help we would never have been able to pull it off. The hours and hours of planning and hard work were well worth it in the end as the compliments we received were amazing. Late entries will be accepted at race number pick up and registration on Friday at Beaulieu Preparitory (Percheron Rd, Midrand, 1684) from 13:30 - 16:00 and on Saturday at Riversands Farm Village Market at the Riversands Commercial Park on the corner of Riversands Blv and Rose Road from 9:00 - 12:00 and on Sunday at Riversands Farm Village Market from 7:00 - 9:00 An extra cost of R20 per entry will be levied on late entries.
