Hi Droo Thanks for the advice. it helps alot. Could not upgrade the Cassette on the Silverback? Sorry i feel very dumb with all this bike stuff, I hope to learn more, is there any other bike in this price range that you would say i should look at? GT Karakoram Merida Big 7 or 9?

Hi Bikaholic, What will you be using the bike for: Road or Off Road, or both:I plan to do many road but some off road. Riding with the family I have a young son. Do you require the bike to participate in cycle events? I would like to do a few cycle races once I get the feel of riding the bike. if you are participating ion Cycle events, will you be a social rider or Competitive? I will be a social rider, i have no intention to be come competitive. Maybe in a few years when I have been bit i will buy a road bike.

Longbarn thank you for replying. as far as i can see they are both about the same. but i have one person telling me one thing and another telling me something else. At this point i think i am just going to bit the bullet and buy the silverback. I would like to get it be for the winter sets in. Not sure if its to late with the way JHB weather has been lately. I can get it for a very good price. and i think it is a lot pretty than the Giant yes i am a girl

Hi. I am new to cycling world. I am looking at buying my first bike. Can any one give me any advice on this 2bikes. Silverback slade 4 or giant talkin 4. Both 27.5 Or any others in the price range. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for replying. I am pretty sure I want to take up the sport. I spinning 4 times a week and want to take it to the next level. I have been to the local bike shop and they recommend both the trex and Scott. I do think a second hand one would be better. But was recommended a small frame bike and can not find many small ones in the classifieds.

I have looked at the bike stores and I still have no idea what is the good beginner bike. Scott, trex, titan? Can any one help me. Thanx in advance. Ps my budget on the lower side.
