Nope not racing to win anything. Just maybe finish in top half...so that I know im not spending 10hours a day on the bike. I agree with that 26er FS option. Just won't be in with the cool kids. But its mostly for the race and probably wont use it again expect for social rides. So doesn't make sense to over invest

Thanks dude. Makes sense. I think I am moving towards a lighter bike. I have very little skill on the mtb anyway. So might not too much of a difference to me.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. The budget is tight as I have many races and various events that I do ie. Ironman etc. So I was thinking buy a 10.5kg HT over cheap 12.5-13kg FS bike.
