  1. System only relies on checking when u pass check points. It does not matter how u get between the points. Water points, spectator points, start, finish, some other points of interest loaded. Have not worried about how u get from point to point or the order of the points but this is ok if everybody does the same route. People who cut the stage short end at the bottom of the leader board because they don't pass all points. Warning though, purpose of the system is to let your friends know how u are going, not navigation. If you use it for nav u stand a good chance of getting lost
  2. If u have an Android phone and want to share your Sabie Experience check out Http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest This gives live tracking, live leader board (for the benefit of your friends or in case u get lost). It also can post to Facebook so you are likely to pick up some admiration and abuse from the sloths who didn't make the effort to be there. For the App just search for 'Nevarest' on the app store. All 4 days loaded. It does not differentiate between the two races as it is meant to be for fun
  3. The Nevarest App provides live tracking during the event but not active before the event. This means you cannot try it out today. If you are going to use the App on Sunday and would link to know how it works check out the simple How To here http://nearest-tracking.co.za/docs/Using_Nevarest.pdf Have a great race
  4. Update your App The App has been updated in the App Store. A few internal errors are handled better and it now allows you to refresh the feed. Be sure to get the updated version before you start. I will keep an eye on this thread and Facebook so if there are any issues I will try resolve them before Sunday
  5. Follow friends using the App If you login with Facebook as described above and then select the 'Feed' tab you will get all the messages the Nevarest App as posting for your friends. The App will make 14 posts to the feed around the course. It will only post to your friends wall about every 45 minutes so there is much more detail here. We have plans to enhance this aspect of the App but for now this is as good as it gets. Follow friends on your iPad You can use the Nevarest web site to follow your friends on your iPad. Just go to http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest and login with Facebook.
  6. Just a quick note on how to use the App. I will do something with pictures tomorrow. Also, check out https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nevarest-Tracking/461213080586438 for news and updates. When running for the first time you will be presented with a login screen. Hit the 'Login via Facebook' button (recommended). You can also register with Nevarest and login but that sort of defeats the object of sharing your progress. See post above for more. The app saves the login so the next time it should just start up and skip this step. App will now switch the the 'Events' tab. Some events may be listed on this tab. If the 94.7 is not showing select the dropdown at the top of the screen and choose 'Nearby events' It should be listed under this option. Select the 94.7 from this list. This will load all the event points and take you to an event detail screen. You can also switch to a 'Timer' or 'Map' tab. You will need these on the day of the event. If you want another event go back to the 'Events' tab. Going back to the 'Events' tab will show the 'Results', 'Feed' and 'Profile' tabs 'Results' is not of much use right now so just ignore it. Your final result will appear here once you are done. 'Feed' can be used to see the progress of your friends. If you login with Facebook you will automatically be connected to your friends. If you create a Nevarest login you are going to have to go to the Nevarest web site and find your friends and follow them. 'Profile' allows you to turn Facebook posting on / off and logout On the day of the event If you run the App on Saturday you are not going to be able to do very much with the 94.7 event. It only becomes live on Sunday (so you can't start a day early). On Sunday a few minutes before you actually start riding start the app and do the following; From the 'Events' tab select the 'Momentum 94.7' event Go to the 'Timer' tab. A 'Start' button should now be showing (it will also be visible on the 'Map' tab) Hit 'Start'. The button will disappear and the app will display 'Goto start'. At this stage the best thing to do is switch to screen off (making sure not to kill the App) and put the phone in your pocket. The App is designed to automatically start once you cross the start line. Note : The App relies on the GPS to do the automatic start. This is the reason for starting it a few minutes before the start. If you hit start on the start line and ride past the start point before the GPS gets a fix it is not going to start The App will automatically post messages as you pass key landmarks and at the finish. It will also play a notification as you pass these points. Just ignore any noises. Stopping the App The App is designed so that if it dies and you restart it it will restart and continue with the event. If you happen to stop at a waterpoint and look at your phone and discover it is not running just restart it and it will continue from where it left off (no selecting events, ...) This does create a problem if you actually want to stop it. To stop the app you must hit the phone menu button to bring up the context menu. In the context menu select 'Stop event' You will then be presented with an edit box. You need to enter 'stop' in this box and then hit the 'Stop' button. Bit of a mission but at least it is unlikely that you sill accidentally stop the App.
  7. The App was only placed on the South African store because we are launching with the 94.7 and it is aimed mainly at the participants. Friends can follow the participants on the web site of via Facebook. If you really want the app you can download from http://nearest-tracking.co.za/app/ Just browse there with the browser on the phone and select Nevarest2.apk The file will download to the Downloads folder on your phone. You can then select the App to install. I think you might need to allow apps to be installed from sources other than the Play Store (there is a menu item for this)
  8. Facebook is not a requirement. You can register directly with Nevarest either using the application or on the web site. If you go this route you need to supply a username and password. Your friends will still be able to follow you on the Nevarest web site ( http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest ) They can also use the 'Feed' in the application. This is a bit rough at the moment and needs to be manually refreshed (by hitting the refresh button) If you login using Facebook and decide you do not want to post to Facebook just go to the Profile tab and turn off 'Post to Facebook'
  9. Ok, in hotel and hit Wifi limit so simulation stopped. Site will no longer be updating but will be in state you can expect during the event. May try run again tomorrow
  10. Just started another live simulation so if you want to see what it does check out the above links.

    2012 94.7

If you want to share your 94.7 experience with your friends the Nevarest App is now on the App store (Just search for Nevarest on Android play store). A simulation is currently running so you can check it out at http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest I have started a thread if you want to comment on, Nevarest see http://www.thehubsa....acking-for-947/
  12. Live tracking of 94.7 for Android phones. If you would like to share your 94.7 experience with your family and see how you compare against your friends check out Nevarest Tracking on http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest (site hopefully be moved to it's own url over the next week but we will keep this address up too. If you would like to see what you will get I have a simulation running now (10:45). Login using your Facebook account (this will connect you to your Facebook friends). The news feed will probably show up empty so select Challenges on the right. The Momentum 94.7 simulation is running live so you can select that. If you then select to Follow button (on the right under the heading) posts on the simulation will then appear in your feed in future. The live map shows the location of participants who are on the leader board. I am currently simulating a ride for 'Nevarest Tracking' so that is the marker moving through the course. If you select 'Nevarest Tracking' in the leader board you will see details on their progress. The app also posts to Facebook for the benefit of friends who are not on the net or don't know that you have tracking running. Check out http://www.facebook....rory.mapstone.5 to get an idea of what to expect. The Android App is now available on the Google Play Store. Search for 'Nevarest' in the app store on your phone to find it. The following link also takes you there. https://play.google....arch?q=Nevarest

    2012 94.7

Also going in E. Rode on MTB with my son last year and got 3:20. Also no other road races so this is were I have ended up. Don't know what the prospect of 2:40 is in group E but I am good for 2:50 as long as you don't start like an idiot going for a 2:15

    2012 94.7

Live tracking of 94.7 for Android phones. If you would like to share your 94.7 experience with your family and see how you compare against your friends check out Nevarest Tracking on http://www.hawk-stone.com/nevarest (site hopefully be moved to it's own url over the next week but we will keep this address up too. If you would like to see what you will get I have a simulation running now (2:30pm). Login using your Facebook account (this will connect you to your Facebook friends) and select 'view results' on any of the items in the news feed. If your feed is empty select 'Events' and then the 94.7 simulation. The reason for the Facebook is that the app will post your progress to Facebook. Check out http://www.facebook.com/rory.mapstone.5 to get an idea of what to expect. There are some snags with the web site (particularly Safari which requires cached stuff to be cleared before drawing a map) but these will be resolved by the end of the week. The app will be on the market (for free) in the next dat or two depending on how this testing goes.
  15. To mention the Epic and Argus in the same sentence is a joke. If you just take the winner's ride time you are doing 14 Argus's in 8 days. If you are speaking about watching the Epic vs Argus I could agree.
