  1. Anybody do the 70km race on Saturday @ Palindaba??
  2. R180 for an XTR!!!!! Where is your LBS. I'll take 5! My LBS is selling them for R420. Seriously, I hope they have stock!
  3. I ride twice a weekend, then wash the bike sometime in the week including a full cassette and chain de-grease and re-lube. I am just miffed as I was under the impression that these items would last longer......maybe they are manufactured to be soft so the manufacturers sell more units......
  4. I agree Slave. I was told by the bike shop that I had to replace the chain on my R35k MTB that I bought from them 3 months ago and this is only its 2nd service (still free!!) but I had to pay for the chain!! My last sh1tty bike took 5 years of punishment with no service and I sold it with the origional chain and sprocket!!!
  5. Can anybody tell me how long a well maintained, (cleaned after every ride, lubed with high quality lube before every ride) chain and cassette should last on a mountainbike. I take the bike out on weekends only for 30-60km rides and its not seen any mud riding as i have only had the thing for 3 months. How many chains will a Weekend Warrior like myself expect to go through in a year. And when should I expect to change the cassette.
  6. I agree!! They must leave the track as is!! just maybe colour code the 35 and 70km route markers and number the ones at the multi crossings. Awesome race!!
  7. Did the 70/60km. Finished in 3h03min with 58km on the odo. Some of my crew also missed a 8-10km loop some where. I was cramping like I never have before. Cant wait for the next one. That section through the Henops 4x4 course was really kk going up but serious fun flying on the downhill sections!! Will definately do the next one. Friend of mine (non Cycling) did the run on Sunday and also said it was quite tough!!
  8. Good to hear yolu enjoyed it! It was probably one of the toughest races I have done but I loved the course....it is what I considder to be a proper MTB race. I could hardly walk on Sunday......but it was well worth it!! Did you do the 70 or the 35 Edgar?
  9. HEHEHEHEHE!!!! I'll have to try the Tubeless route sometime I suppose. Maybe my blood pressure will return to normal!!
  10. What I mean by puncture is when I need to stop riding and start fiddling with the stuff in my backpack!!! I HATE IT!!! I will do whatever it is I need to do to minimise the act of taking a wheel off and fixing the damn thing while riding/racing! And whats with those stupid skinny screw out type valves, anybody ever unscrewed their pump/bomb after replacing the tube and then the inner valve comes with..........
  11. Which is more puncture prone.......Tube or tubeless??
  12. Anyone here do the 70km race last weekend @ Palindaba??
  13. 28th June http://www.cultcycling.co.za/ToyotaMTNCyclePark/XCProvincialNo52009/tabid/15873/Default.aspx
  14. Then I might be playing a big role in this leg of the Regionals....... I suppose someone has to come last.....
