  1. Try Cape Storm shops.. I know there is one in Somerset Mall, and you get a 10% discount if you're a PPA member.
  2. On a tangent.... is it even possible for guys of about 100KGs to do freeriding, or will the tires explode on landing big air?
  3. Tx guys. Is there any danger (other than having a hard ride) in rider on the higher inflation side of things?
  4. Hi guys After my last 'fun' experience with a gashed tubeless tire, I'd like to find out what the optimum tire pressure for larger weight (+- 100Kg) MTB riders is. Being rather tall (195cm) I pack a heft 100-105Kg's of riding weight. I'd like to research my options on durable and effective tires, but also figure out best practises for tire maintanance. I ride a dual sus MTB, and enjoy taking small jumps and attacking, rather than avoiding rock gardens etc. I am how ever leaning strongly towards going back to tubed tires. Any idea/suggestions? Tx
  5. Brilliant. Thanks for all the advice guys.
  6. Hi guys I've been having the worst luck possible with my tubeless setup. I have Bontrager tubeless tires, and a conversion kit on my rims. Long story short, I've gone through two inner seal kits (thanks to not being told that one shouldn't use a hand pump on the presta valves, by my LBS. And replacing the system costs about R400 per tire), having torn at the valve head, and this weekend, I got a small cut in my rear tire, causing it to vent most of the sealant. Thankfully I had a traditional inner tube with me and have been riding with that since the weekend. My question is this. The cut is in the centre of the tire sidewall, and approx. 1cm long. Can I continue riding like this for an extended period, or will the cut deteriorate further? Logic tells me the cut shouldn't deteriorate as fast as if it was in it's tubeless setup... but perhaps that logic is faulty? What do you guys think? Either way, I'm pretty 'gatvol' of the whole tubeless system and the epically-nasty expenses when it does go wrong. Justify2009-05-05 13:59:44
  7. Purchased the Cape Storm Stratos today. Was a choice made easier by the price, having Cape Storm gift vouchers, and the 10% discount all PPA members get from their stores. From what I can gather this top will be ideal for light showers and drizzle. When combined with a cycling shirt underneath I believe this should cover all my bases, apart from a total downpour. I'm still keep to get those municipal jackets though, always handy.
  8. Yeah, does seem the best bet... the price is rather out of whack though... maybe as a long term investment at some point.
  9. I see they make a Slipstream Jacket - ZAR 375.00which seems the same as the pricier one, except for the zip-off sleeves?
  10. Thanks Thug - I have seen this jacket in shops, and you're spot on, it's a great investment. The only downer for me is the lack of high vis colour scheme. Don't perhaps know of anything in that league that's bright yellow/orange?
  11. Any idea if they're fully or partially waterproof?
