  1. Why spend so much money sending a team? Dean Edwards did very well to make the Mens Scratch final but as for the rest...rather use the money to get a track program going. Get JP Van Zyl to help the team ( the best track cyclist in the history of SA Cycling,he did after all win 2 medals at a Track Worlds and several World Cup races) send the team to smaller races on the track circuit to get use to the race pace and then when they can ride the times, ave speeds etc enter them into the World Cup's. But I am sure CSA politics will never make this happen! But hey I am sure they (CSA) know what they are doing...nothing like sending a team to make up the numbers.
  2. The Idol...the reason I started to cycle. A true professional way ahead of his time. Winner of the longest stage in the history of the Giro D'Italia. He was the pioneer of what today is SA Pro cycling. He could sprint, time trail and climb. He enjoyed the track and his bike was always clean, even after a stage in the rain! RIP Idol.
  3. Colin well said; Willie is a good person that did so much for the standard of bike shops in the Western Cape. He was a brilliant cyclist and took that edge with him when he opened his store, I hope he holds his head high and that he soon realizes that this is but the start of something new in his life rather than the end of it! In my experience your comments of Chris snr is spot on, he has calmed with the years but I respect him imensly, not only as a wise old cycling head but for lasting so long in a very tuff industry. I hope that Chris jnr follows in the old mans footsteps. No doubt we will see Willie soon, either riding hard at the front or setting a new standard in bike retailing!
  4. Yes my mom was, but she cant answer my question...
  5. I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on who ownes My Race? What does the service level agreement look like that CSA agreed to? Groot Lem can you shed some light?
  6. I have followed the Lemmers/CSA threat with interest. I am sure that Carinus and Hendrik will have a performance review with the board or chairman of CSA. If they do not meet the required performance levels as described then I am sure that the required steps will be taken.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Greg Till promised high levels of corporate governance( In a Super Cycling interview) and I am sure that he will live up to this if not it is up to the respective provinces to then question this. I am firmly of the opinion that while members/license holders of CSA (Effectively share holders) can question any matter relating to CSA. We must however do so in a responsible/professional and transparent manner (stop hiding behind alias) If any province/member is not happy with any board member/official I am sure that CSA has a grievance process? Whether a person is paid or not paid for a position is irrelevant what is relevant is that the person takes responsibility and accountability for that position and delivers in a professional manner on the job description?while being to close to the action (My mom was recently dismissed from CSA) to objectively say that this is happening I am sure as with most things in life Time will tell!
