Hi All , Thanx for all your input and comments . Done some reading today and my conclusion is as follows . it is a very fine line between the two . The Scalpel is the better frame and the Merida has got the better components. so If the Scalpel had the Merida Component it would have been the winner hands down.

I need help please , I am looking at buying a dual suspension MTB . I have narrowed it down to the Cannondale Scalpel 5 & Merida 96 3000D . I can get both for the same price . Which is the best between the two ? Please help
