  1. Chaps new question. I have a 15C 18.5 volt 5 cell 2200 ma Lipo running my light. I am using a balanced charger to charge the battery. What should the recommended charging current be? I ran it at 1amp the other day and it took a 180 minutes to load. Then I ran it at 1.2 amps and it was loaded in about 80 minutes. The cells did not heat up at all, but I know one should take care when working with Lipo's. Incidentally as always the charger and battery came with instructions that provides you with less than the bare minimum. Any suggestions. I would like to charge it in 1 hour while still looking after the battery.
  2. Treedodger Could you PM me and discuss the process. I used the DX express system and got a ref number. Then I filled in the data on the missing shipment. Happen to be a RA... number. They responded with some questions, I replied and now it seems I cant respond any more due to no more comment space's being available and no response. I don't want to close the enquiry and re create it. Any suggestions on getting hold of them. If all fails I will give them a call on Monday.
  3. Hey TreeDodger It has been some time now, any news from DX? I got my 2 x 18.5 volt 2200ma Lipo's and charger from R2hobbies.com yesterday. Just 12 days after placing the order on a Friday! Great service! + a bunch of 5$ discount vouchers for future use.
  4. I am being punished. My light was completed on Sunday the 9th, used for 1 ride and then had to pack my bags and fly up to Garankuwa for 7 days (work). I can not wait to get back to PE. Noticed that the day is starting earlier, at least my 04:20 rides will still be at night for a while longer. Enjoy the build. I now have two mates that want the same light. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Mountain Lion I had a look at Kaidomain and it looks very promising. Will place some orders today.
  5. Mountain Lion, I will have to find some one with the right type of camera, but will post it soon. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Lesson learnt from DX is that they stall you long enough so that you can not request a refund or raise a dispute via pay pal. (20 Days) What gets to me the most is that DX has just stopped communicating and all has gone quite. My second attempt was to raise a general ticket. This was done in June. They have not even allocated it to a controller. So much for free shipping, it cost me a $123 US.
  6. Greetings all I finished my quad Q5/ bflex bike light. I need to play some more with the optics. I have a good spill that lights up the road from my handle bars and a very tight beam that lights up very far into the darkness. So I will name it the dark sucker compements of Spud. Question on DX. I am still missing my May shipment of chargers and 2 X MTE (MCE) flash lights + 18650 to power them. Am I the only one still missing bits?
  7. Greetings to all. Please take note of the following. My friend and fellow cyclist Deseree was taken down on Saturday morning by n Black Isuzu bakkie. Reg plate TSL 217 GP in Kragga Kamma Port Elizabeth. It was a group of three riders that was targeted by the driver. No other vehicles on the road in daylight. The driver clipped the rider at the back and took out the middle rider. She broke her collarbone and had to be operated on. Her face is badly grazed with 3 nasty cuts complements of her cycling glasses.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The driver politely sped off. Please note, the bakkie was found at no 58 Kragga Kamma road. It is coved in scratches. The occupants of the house are denying it all. They have no respect for cyclist. This road is used a lot by PE cyclists. The police don?t seem to be to concerned and no arrests we made. That is life for you!
  8. Thysmeades As always our good friend Google has provided a local agent for Artic silver thermal adhesive at a cost. Try www.cyberdyne.co.za they are in Roodepoort. You will be looking at R194.37 + courier charges for I think about 3grams. Eina!
  9. Chaps it seems as if May was a bad month for shipping out of HK. Tech question: any one tried a triple MCE here locally and if so what driver did you use?
  10. Hi thysmeades Thanks, did you use a Paypal account or did you do a direct payment to Taskled? Any suggestions on optics? My first optics were the same ones that Mountain Lion fitted into the plumbing couplers. I find them to give a good throw with a bright hot spot in the middle with not such a great spill. Could be due to them being 8 degree reflectors.
  11. I am going to try Taskled. Last time I looked they were going for 30$. I am not sure what they will charge for shipping and our local taxes. www.taskled.com
  12. Here is a joke for you. I placed 2 orders on Friday the 5th of May for some optics and glass lenses. The second order arrived yesterday and the 1st has arrived in JHB. I am still waiting for my missing parcel. I took my 1st home made light for a test ride yesterday morning. 1 X Cree Q5 + 1 X 23mm optic + a cheap and nasty driver from DX. It works but I want more so I will be ordering my B-Flex driver today. 4 X Cree Q5's might just do it!
  13. I have bought a MCE 18560, a single Q5 flash lights and some Q5 LED's and drivers from DX that make a lot of light, BUT, it comes with a lot of frustration and reworks. The quality of workmanship is crap with a capital K and sometimes it is like opening a lucky packet because you never know what it is that they have shipped. (wrong SKU numbers etc.) On the lead time issue I would agree with Sampie. I am now trying to track a parcel that was shipped from Hong Kong on the 5th of May. Be warned!
