  1. Thanx everyone for assist. I now have no errors and a reverse light on my bike rack. Ended running complete new cables as well.
  2. So, seems I purchased the incorrect light. Light only has 1 cable and I require 2 (one for ground and other for +)? Or should this single cable light work. Didn't find a complete light unit with reverse (and all the other functions) so purchased a single light for reverse.
  3. Found one. Will go get it today. Thank you for this
  4. Do you have a picture you could post or link? I replaced the older square lights with the same ones from Midas. But if I can purchase a completely new light with reverse in them I would definitely do that. I'll go have a look at Autozone and Midas again as well.
  5. Hi All, Need some assistance. My vehicle complains because my old Thule bike rack only has brake, indicator and park lights. It fails on reverse lights cause the rack does not have one. So I have 2 options. Add a reverse light and wire it into the 7pin plug or purchase a complete set of lights with cables + plug (new or 2nd hand). I would prefer to get a complete set of lights and switch to 13 pin plug anyway (currently using 7 to 13 pin converter). So would need to know where I can get this. I have the old Thule Euroway. I would even take a set of lights that the likes of Marvel/Double D/Artera bike racks use if I could only find the parts for it. Thule replacement lights are like half the price of a new rack, so don't really want to go that route. Help would really be appreciate in showing where I can get it or how to add a reverse light to bike rack.
  6. To be honest with you I can't say. I have not used a Thule so can't comment. The one I have is slightly bent where you do the tilt feature with the foot. It still works 100% because it has 2 places where you can tilt. I don't need the tilt feature but I got this rack for R3k 2nd hand so didn't complain at all. There might be a reason why Thule is expensive, but that reason I do not know (maybe they won't bend if too much force is applied with the foot for the tilt feature).
  7. Thanx, going to get it this weekend and mount it.
  8. Hi Chris This is what I would prefer "Some mount a towbar ball to the wall and let it hang down. Fold the arm down and it takes almost no space." This way it takes up almost no space and I can mount it easy as well. The problem is finding a towball for this. Do you perhaps know where I can get one? Regards,
  9. Now for the final question after all of this. How do you store your bike rack? These things are huge and I was thinking using heavy duty wall hanger. I have the 3 bike rack, so it's not the lightest carrier either. Unless someone knows where I can buy this locally? https://www.amazon.co.uk/EUFAB-16412-Bracket-Bicycle-Carriers/dp/B003DTLUY0?ref_=d6k_applink_bb_marketplace
  10. So I got tbe towbar. Now for the bike carrier. Will the marvel bike carrier work? It will probably only be for 1 bike and the random 2nd bike if someone needs a lift from the trail.
  11. I was actually going to buy the 2 bike rack. Is their a reason why I should go 3 other than adding an extra bike? I was looking at the Marvel Rack from Chris Willemse Cycles or hopefully get a bargain 2nd hand one. I'm going to be selling my Saris Bones 2 which will add cash towards it as well.
  12. Today I actually got a chance to look at the roof racked bicycles in action. Was at bloemendal and I made up my mind. Going with Towbar. It was so simple to load the bicycle onto the roof rack. Bicycle was high, but I could have lived with that. It's when I saw the car start driving. The bicycle looked very unstable. I know it's not, but the amount of movement it has while on top of the roof is way too much for my liking. I actually saw about 3 driving and 3 standing still in about a 2 minute period. Then another person in a newish Landover Discovery also pulled up with bikes on the roof (has a towbar though). He had to get out a crate from the car to get the bikes off. With all of the above I made my choice within 5 minutes of seeing all these people with roof racks. Towbar it is.
  13. No warranty and maintenance plan finished last month. As long as the part does not cause any issues on the vehicle and you get permission from bmw then its all good. I did my own Bluetooth install (using oem installation manual) on my previous one while it was under warranty and maintenance plan. All oem parts and there was no issues. Even the coding I did myself back then too. However I would not encourage people doing it. It might have been ok for me, but might not be the same for others.
  14. That R13k is with discount. But without discount installed it was R15k ex vat by bmw themselves. It's 2 parts, the tow hitch and the retrofit harness. I'm only going to use oem parts so I know it works properly.
  15. You are correct. I need to connect the electronics and might need coding, but not always. The vehicle already has the tow hitch ready option added. Luckily I've been doing coding/programming on this and previous vehicle. The coding would be to auto disable PDC when hooking something up.
  16. Seems like towbar it is then. I will probably just install it myself to save costs cause it's not that difficult.
  17. So far the towbar's only issue is price. It's about R13k installed, so it is quite a chunk of change. I have enough time to decide cause I'm only making my choice end of this month. Really appreciate the feedback thus far.
  18. How is long distance driving with a roof rack? I'm not worried about fuel. It's more safety of the bicycle in windy situations.
  19. Hi all I am currently in a predicament. I need to get one of the 2 because I no longer want to use my boot lid rack (got a new car). Even though they indicate it does not scratch the vehicle paint, I saw different on my previous car because of usage over a few years. So below are the options I have and would like pros and cons from people who have these items please. I have a sedan and would need to save up for the towbar for my specific vehicle (needs to be removable). I might need to travel long distance as well (probably 500km max distance I will go for an event). I am in CPT as well. Roof Rack (Cost 3 times less than Towbar) or Towbar (Can be used for other purposes such as a trailer- I have never used a trailer)
  20. Thanx, will get hold of them Monday. Tried too late this morning.
  21. Hi All So I have a predicament I'm currently in. Bought a bike with dual remote lockout recently. It has a Front Rock Shox Fork with Push to lock Fox Rear Shock with Push to Unlock. I didn't check this when getting the bike as I was excited and it was a big upgrade coming from 4 hardtails over the last 10 years. I've made peace that it doesn't make sense to change the fork to push to unlock as it will require a complete damper replacement, however I have seen that the Fox Rear Shock actually can be done for way cheaper and without rebuilding the entire shock too. Now comes the tricky part. Where can I get these parts? I can't seem to order it online that can ship to me in CPT. Does anybody perhaps know where I can get the below parts without ordering the complete Eyelet kit? FOX Shock FLOAT DPS Remote 2-Pos SV All and LV Up Cam 2017 | Silverfish UK (silverfish-uk.com) Part Number : 210-30-070 Spring Torsion 2014-17 Dish/DPS Remote .041 Round Wire .061 pitch .0071 in-lb/deg Unplated | Werkstatt | Produkte | Foxracingshox Part Number : 039-00-382 Video on how it is replaced : TREK PUSH-TO-UNLOCK REMOTE CONVERSION- FORK AND REAKTIV XC SHOCK | Bike Help Center | FOX (ridefox.com) Another option is if someone has a blown out Fox Elite Evol Performance Remote lock shock they not going to use that does push to lock. All I need are the above 2 parts to be in order and I will pay for it too. Any assistance would help.
