Big H, I was in no way being condescending towards you or doubting Ominco's statements they make on their brand. I seriously mean what I say... If you're wearing eyewear, you're protecting your eyes... that is great. With regards to soliciting... We DO NOT sell eyewear to the public, the point of this post was to show hubbers the great properties of our lenses..... A RAVE in the Rants and Raves section.

Big H, I think the big difference here is they never penetrated the lens but the lens was damaged.. After shooting an ImapctX lens at nearly point blank range with a pellet gun it does not leave a mark....at all. It is realy in a league of it's own. I think the one thing that we all agree on here is that one should wear good shatterproof eyewear. If D'Arcs are your thing then great... Rudy Project have many frame designs to choose from but as far as lenses go, you should be looking at ImpactX photochromic Clear or PhotoChromic Red. Popular Frame designs are Rydon (Bicycling Editors Choice for May) or Exowind.

Folks, any company that is charging R1600 for a pair of Rudy Projects with ImpactX lenses is bringing them in as grey imports and no warranty will be covered by Rudy Project SA.

Johan, this lens is not polycarbonate, ImpactX lenses are made from a soft, flexible polymer. Polycarbonate on the other hand is a hard material that is prone to shattering and definitely scratching. We have a little testing unit at the office where we take all of the brands mentioned in your post and shoot them with a pellet gun from about 20cm... Polycarbonate lenses shatter and ImpactX lenses do no leave a single mark... not even a scratch. The proof is definitely in the pudding here. rudyproject2009-06-29 11:01:17

Hi Big H. Rudy Project (no "s") has been in the domain of cycling equipment and has been manufacturing specific eyewear since day 1 in 1985. The brand was born on the faces of legendary Italian road teams and is today still the choice of some of the top teams at the Tour de France and the Giro. Hey RB... Rudy Project has not gone up that much at all... If you shop around you will find the Rydon's that you mentioned from about R3500 up to R5k... Rudy Project have a suggested retail price but it is the shop owners discretion as to how much mark-up he puts on.

Hey Ricky Bobby, The RRP for these Lenses is R1050 excl VAT. It is unlikely that you will find these lenses under that price as dealers generally won't go and undercut each other unless they are importing grey product and don't give a damn for others in the industry... You also obviously forfeit your warranty if you purchase grey products... If you can't find a local dealer to help you. contact the Rudy Project head office and we''ll point you in the right direction.

droo... Firstly, not all lenses are polycarbonate, least of all Rudy Project's ImpactX lens. Secondly, polycarbonate is not tough, it's actually quite brittle and is more likely to shatter on impact, take a hammer to your sunnies and see what I mean. On the converse, ImpactX lenses are made from a soft polymer and are guaranteed never to shatter.... EVER!

exactly... so what it obviously means is that it will definitely stop a stone or a branch and it WILL NOT SHATTER!

I was at the SA National Pistol Shooting Champs this weekend and we got one of the competitors to shoot a Rudy Project ImpactX lens from 10 metres with a 9mm Pistol, the result was staggering....
