  1. Thanks for the link Steynja, Interesting that that bike has the name stamped on the top of the seat stays.
  2. Hi Mandibles, Thanks for the link. There was a translate button on my screen. Thanks again
  3. ***UPDATE*** Hi all, The bike is something called "Le Taureau" I have found virtually nothing on google and was wondering if anyone has heard of it? *************
  4. I must agree with Matchstix. The fork has a different stamp on it, and while the fork could be changed, it's the lack of any stamp at the top of the seat stay on my bike that convinces me. The chrome pattern is very similar though.
  5. Hi All, A big thank you to everyone who has assisted so far. Attached are further pictures based on questions received. Regarding the inside of the seat tube, it looks smooth the whole way down. I do not know enough about bottom brackets to identify whether it is Italian thread. I didn't find any holes for mudguards, but did find something attached to the inside of the seat stay on the derailler side. I have included a picture (first picture below), I have no idea what it's there for. "Columbus" is stamped on both rear dropouts and both fork ends Please ignore the stickers on the seat tube just beneath the top tube and between the gear levers. They are "Cycle Safe" stickers which I stuck on myself as the frame was looking a bit boring. Thanks again
  6. 004286 There is also a "4E" stamped beneath the 49 frame size
  7. OK, picture should be there now. Sorry about the delay. It doesn't look like the Raleigh. The whole fork is chrome and there's no visible lug as part of the fork. The other tubes do have lugs between them, but not the fork.
  8. ***UPDATE*** Hi all, The bike is something called "Le Taureau" Have found virtually nothing on google and was wondering if anyone has heard of it? ************* Please help me identify my bike. I purchased a second hand bike that had been resprayed and I would like to identify the make/type. The only distinguishing feature I can find is the design at the top of the fork as per the picture. There are no stamps at the top of the seat stays. It's an old bike, probably early 1990's and looks like it was quite good at the time based on the components. I don't know if they are original, but they are good and I wouldn't expect good components on a bad frame. Other details: The dropouts are stamped Columbus It came with Shimano 600 (6 Speed) derailleur Brakes and chain rings are Campagnolo, wheels Mavic, saddle Rolls. Forks are chrome and the chain and seat stays are partially chromed. It's a size 49 stamped under the bottom bracket (I assume there wouldn't have been a 50 produced so it's a manufacturer who produced size 49 rather than 50) There is a serial number stamped under the BB, did manufacturers use distinct series of serial numbers? I know it's not much to go on, I'm hoping someone recognises the design in the photo. (I also hope the picture loaded) Can anyone help with the image attachment? I've tried the insert image icon, found the jpg, uploaded it, but then what? Beginner2009-10-27 00:20:56
