  2. In a world where we are bombarded with information from our bike computers (never mind the post ride analysis tools), the CatEye Strada Smart looks to cut out the clutter and deliver only the essentials in a sleek package. While the Strada Smart can connect to via Bluetooth to sensors, it makes the most sense for those looking to get their ride data from their phones onto the handlebars. Click here to view the article
  3. Hi Hubbers! I have been using my Edge 520 device since Nov/Dec 2015 and I have had very little complaints. I attempted to use the Courses function this past weekend .Very simple (in theory), you plot the route on GC and download to the device. Then you 'start' the course and ride towards the start, it picks up that you're on the course and it takes you from there. Could someone who has used the Courses function often please help me: When your Map is displaying (when the line is purple), it only gives me 2 options to display along with the route, speed, elevation or whatever. But under the Courses function you can choose stuff like Heading, Speed, HR, Time/Dist to Next. What is next? Is that the next turn? Also, is there a way so that ONLY the map shows? Do you have to turn all your other screens off under the Activity Profile? I think the Courses function is very cool, but on the Edge 500 (which I had before) it was very crass, and on the 520 it's not user friendly. I suspect units like the 1000 and 820 Explore have a much better Courses function/interface. Thanks for reading and commenting!
  4. Wahoo Fitness, the leader in workout apps and connected fitness devices, today announced ELEMNT BOLT, the latest model in its growing lineup of powerful and easy-touse bike computers. ELEMNT BOLT is the first GPS cycling computer and mount developed as an integrated system designed to drastically reduce drag. When tested against leading competitors using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the ELEMNT BOLT system reduced air resistance by over 50 percent – equating to a 12.6 second time reduction over a 40-kilometer time trial course for a rider travelling at 21 miles per hour. 5. I have an Garmin Edge 705 that I have been using successfully for years. I had the South Africa street maps and topographical maps loaded on the GPS. I deleted the maps off the GPS unit by mistake and now cant use the unit. I don't have the original maps CD's and Garmin say that Garmap where I originally purchased the maps has closed down. Garmin also say that their current map software wont work on the Edge 705. Is there any map software that is compatible with the Edge 705? Surely I don't have to go and buy a new bike computer? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I wanted to find out from the training boffins and anyone else who has something to add: If you had only 6 data fields on your bike computer what would be the fields you would display? My 6 are: Ride Time Distance Speed Average Speed Current HR 3s Power Average
  7. Advice needed: I'm a noob just getting into the world of MTB, and busy kitting up. Was looking around for a cheapie Bike Computer just to keep track of my rides (Speed, Distance, etc.), nothing fancy for now until I get the hang of this. Came across the FLUID 10 Function Bicycle Computer selling at Makro (Yes, that dreaded shop), for R169. You guys think it's any good, and will it serve my purposes till I need to splash out on the Garmin's etc.? http://www.makro.co.za/sports-and-outdoor/fluid-10-function-bicycle-computer-278977EA Thanks guys!
