  1. Hi guys, any recommendations for getting a decent bike setup in the Pretoria area?
  2. The VeloAngle is a quick, easy and repeatable bike fitting tool that doesn’t cost the earth Starting at $199, it's significantly cheaper than many other fitting systems https://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/veloangle-fitting-tool-52561/ Cool idea and great way to replicate and exact setup!!
  3. How have used these guys in Pretoria? Is it worth the money? I had a bad setup done my Cycle Lab couple of years back that busted my knee, just want some referrals... https://setitup.simplybook.me/v2/
  4. Hi there, I recently upgraded to a 29er and want to go for a good bike setup. Any recommendations on where / who to go to for the best bike setup? I look forward to your input. PS: Gauteng (Sandton, Fourways and surrounding areas preferred).
  5. Hi guys Is it worth spending R850 to have a pro fitment on your bike? Apparently it takes 2.5 hours. My wife has taken to riding quite well but her right knee hurts a little while cycling and she's been referred to a professional woman who does bike fitments. She rides both MTB and road and it's R850 for just the one bike, which does seem a bit steep to me. We're in Cape Town Northern suburbs, is there any other places to have this done? We're very much weekend warriors.. EDIT - So for those who stumbled onto this page and want the executive summary: YES! The fitment is worth it according to most hubbers! Even if they only adjust a couple of millimeters.
  6. Until recently it was perfectly fine to have a good feeling for a tight screw or locked bolt, but nowadays all manufacturers are providing torque specifications in their service manuals. The correct torque for bolts and parts are such an important thing, (especially when you have a carbon frame or parts)and I have not been able to find a thread about it, that I thought I'd start one. Basics: Over tightening strips and damages, under tightening causes crashes and creaks. Please add any brand specific info that you have, let's get this thread all info'd up for torque. I would recommend picking up a decent torque wrench if you work on your own bike, if not, stress that your LBS working on your bike conform the the manufacturer's torque specs for your parts and or frame. Here's the Parktool guidelines in PDF. http://www.parktool....blog/torque.pdf And some Parktool Torque related info: http://www.parktool....ns-and-concepts
  7. I bought a second hand bike. The frame size is a 55cm, I'm a 54cm. But that seems fine. The reach is definitely too far. I moved my saddle forward, but the handlebar is still too far (did the hub test, I see it at the back of the handlebars not the front), so I want to buy a new stem. The Specialised bike shop wants to charge me R500 for setup. This excludes any parts they might add or change. 1. What is a decent price and make? 2. Should I rather do a proper setup? 3. What should I pay for a setup?
