  1. I recently dropped off a Mountain Bike at Eagle Canyon Cycles in Honeydew for basic repairs. After two weeks, no work on the bike had been done. I sponsor a development rider who subsequently as a result of poor service missed out on his final Nissan Trailseeker race. When I complained to the owner "Conrad" he promptly told me to F-OFF out of his shop and then proceeded to use every profanity in the dictionary of swear words that end in the F word. He flew off the handle even in front of other customers. His behavior and language was shocking, I had never experienced such a fowl mouth. So be warned, anybody taking their bike to Eagle Canyon Cycles in Honeydew. Customer service is none existent and don't dare complain or say something for risk of being verbally abused by the owner. I will never ever go back and would not recommend this establishment.
  2. I've been riding a momsen for over 5 years now. After riding a couple of other brands before I think Momsen is an amazing brand! Very responsive frame builds and amazing performance. I,ve been using the SL 729 carbon frame and build it up to just under 10kg. What a bike! Being so happy with my bike I decided to save up and replace my hardtail frame with the new Vipa 2016 team frame. This is my first dual sus frame and being very excited I called Momsen early in Jan to order my new frame! Guess my huge dissapointment when they told me they only sell the bike as a whole and you can't purchuse the frame only!?! Now this can only be my lack of knowledge but thats rediculous right? They turning away a happy supportive customer and super fan. Now sitting with the question do I buy another brand which I do not really want to but Momsen is forcing me to go that route. Really dissapointed and dont know what to do?
  3. I remember reading a lot of negative remarks about cycle lab before the change of management and then after remarks of "New management , same old bad service" were flying around. SO i thought i would tell of my experience with the store. At the end of last year i bought a road bike from them. From the first time I used the bike my large chainring seemed bent as my chain would catch my FD each revolution but i was only able to confirm this on the trainer as while on the road i wasn't able to take my eyes off the road long enough while pedalling to verify this. In April I took my bike for a service at my LBS and they put it on the stand and showed me that the chainring indeed was bent. I thought there was nothing that could be done as it has been such a long time but thought nothing ventured nothing gained. So i subsequently phoned Cycle Lab and the original sales rep had left so i was put in contact with Gary De Beer. He advised me to bring in my bike to which i did. They made the claim for me and replaced not only the chainring but the entire crank. I had an entry level Sram crank which was replaced with a Carbon Force Crank. It has been a long time since i have had such great service and would just like to thank them.
  4. Just wanted to share this experience: Had been sukkeling with a creak in my saddle/seatpost for some time. In and out of various bike shops etc etc - no joy. Went out for a ride the other day with a group of guys - the one guy who I had never met before said he owned a bike shop and could fix the creak for me, so I stopped-he too a good look and to my shock and horror he points a crack in the seatpost weld. By this stage the crack was getting worse to the point that the bike was becoming dangerous to ride. No problem he says - here take my bike so that you can continue you on your ride and calmly hands over his sweet-looking Cannondale full carbon MTB for me to ride. To a guy he has never met before. Turns out his name is Corne Barnard from Rockhopper Adventures in Somerset West and has a Cannondale agency, so he offers to take my bike and sort out all the warranty claims etc. So he rides my bike back to his shop without sitting on the saddle (~20 km), submits the claim to Omnico and by the end of that same week has rebuilt my parts onto a beautiful new black and green Cannondale frame, swopped out my grips and changed my gear cables to improve shifting- all so that the bike is ready to ride by the following Friday. This to me is unbelievably good customer service- the type you seldom hear of any more, so a big thumbs up to Corne and John from Rockhopper Adventures for excellent service way beyond expectations. All I can say is that if anyone is looking for a bike shop in the Somerset West area, do yourselves a favour and look up Rockhopper Adventures (just behind La Romantica restaurant - close to the Mall)
