  1. I have a customer with a Race Face hub from a 2014 Lapierre Zesty AM 427. I think it’s the Aeffect hub, but I’m not 100% sure. The pawls are worn down, and causing some slipping as they engage. So, I’d like to replace the pawls or the whole freehub if necessary. However, I’m having difficulty tracking down the part. All the listed Race Face freehub bodies I can find on various sites are for newer, different hubs. Silverfish in the UK told me that the Easton X5 freehub body would fit. Is there anyone who can confirm whether this is true or not? Or any recommended sources of information to check specs? Here are some images of the hub in question:
  2. I am relatively heavy, 96kg, working towards being sub 90kg. I have had my secondhand Specialized Tarmac with EASTON EA 50 SL wheels for two years now. Last week I was practicing a sprint effort and the chain slipped off the chainring with the associated near tumble and extra forces on the wheelset. Afterwards I saw the rear cassette was sliding left and right while shifting and after inspection the axle was completely broken off. I took the Wheel to Cycle Lab Lynwood on Monday, but they have yet to find a replacement for the axle throughout their entire network of contacts. So I am thinking of taking the broken axle and have our machine shop manufacture one from scratch to at least salvage the rear wheel for training. But now the actual question: I am looking at wheelsets in the classifieds in the sub R5k range, which wheels are some of the more robust options? Taking into account the fact that 2nd hand wheels have already been ridden and their life has probably been shortened. I can get these HUNT wheels NEW and Delivered which are rated at 115kg rider weight and 1579g for the wheelset. https://www.huntbikewheels.com/collections/road-rim-brake-wheels/products/hunt-4season-aero-road-wheelset-1589g-28deep-22wide They cost R5k, if I add R1300 they will fit 25mm tubeless tyres for me, which makes allot of sense. So, 2nd hand wheelset in the classifieds or new Hunt Wheels?

  4. Good day Forum, Not sure how many people out there sporting an Easton wheel set, that uses the M1 rear hub. I have been experiencing some issues with mine in terms of bearing durability, hub loosening itself etc etc I purchased my wheels (Easton Haven) in July 2013 from CRC, and bearings were replaced at my cost in oct/nov of 2013 In Jan 2014 after 3 months Easton agent replaced the bearings (incl 'upgrade' + shims) as there has been fix released by Easton, that was suppost to prevent bearings to seize and and increase their life expectancy I'm now again sitting with a seized bearing, and the actual hub has untightened itself again. This brings total of new bearings, in under a year, to 3 sets. Release from Easton: http://www.eastoncycling.com/en-gb/road/news/easton-announces-bearing-spacer-upgrade-kit-for-m1-mountain-bike-hubs/ Anybody out there with same issues? Final resolution? Waiting for some feedback, thanks guys!

  8. Can anyone inform me as to where i can get replacement spokes and nipples for an Easton haven Wheelset. The spokes are 268mm Straight-pull spokes. Not sure if the spokes and nipples used are common or exclusive to Havens. Not one bike shop I have contacted so far has been able to help me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
