  1. When planning our trip to Knysna about 2 weeks after the devastating fires of June 2017, we struggled to find information about the trails after the fires. Even in the town, we found differing opinions on the conditions of the trails. We have now ridden some of the trails and, amazingly, most of the trails actually escaped damage. Here is what we found: Harkerville: The yellow, blue and green routes are rideable. The red route is closed but you can still get a decent ride in by combining the blue and green route. On the green route you do go through areas that are completely burnt out (but rideable) and even in the forests on the blue route we came across the odd burnt out tree. Areas near the coast are where the damage is. Homtini: After driving through complete burnt out moonscapes, the Homtini trail is is unscathed and sheer pleasure to ride. Well worth the drive out. Petrus Se Brand: Not ridden yet but apparently unscathed. Garden Route Trail Park: Still on the agenda but apparently unscathed. Not ridden, hopefully others can add for Kom Se Pad and Concordia Road (apparently rideable but lots of damage along the way)
  2. Hi we have a special running - because so many trails have been damaged in the fires... so have a look at our page, and perhaps you could share it... Quite a few MTB trails are closed due to the recent fires in the Western Cape. We are offering a special price of just R30 for the remainder of March and including the Easter Holidays. Come and enjoy our trails...
  3. Tokai MTB are reporting that Welvanpas is on fire: https://www.facebook.com/tokaimtb/posts/371638219696599 Anyone got news on this?
  4. Hi there, I couldn't find anything similar in any of the forums so i thought i'd ask the question here. If i have paid for my 42.2KM Mandela day MTB ride to hear that all the trails in the Howick area have been closed untill further notice (living in Howick i appreciate them doing this the wind is so fierce!!) what would happen to our entries if it was deemed unsafe to ride the race? Fire warnings are high at the moment and as strong as anyone is trying to pedal like a bat out of hell to get away from a fire my money is on the fire winning that race. On another note. Is there anyone taking part tomorrow that is doing it for the hell of it and not the prize money?? I fall into this category and could use someones shadow as there is no timber and very little shade.. Cheers
