I ride quite early in the mornings and its very dark, so I ride with about 2 rear lights and 2 front lights...there is some sections that I ride through that has no street lights...so I stumbled across this cool product called Fly6. Its a HD camera and light in one...the cool thing for me is that it has a massive red light reflecting at the rear of your bike, so not being seen by cars is of no concern...but the impressive part is that it has a camera...so it captures everything that's happening behind you...so cool.. I been riding with it since Tuesday...first I tested it on my mountain bike..I was planning on riding up MF1 on Table Mountain but the wind was too strong, so I rode up Signal Hill via Bo-Kaap as it was more sheltered...check the clip out, I uploaded it to youtube.. http://youtu.be/lQNfz4Bn9Nc Check this clip as I rode down Signal Hill into Bo-Kaap on my mountain bike... http://youtu.be/tc-aBKcLtmg As you can see behind me, its quite clear...pics up all sounds...in this case I added the music via youtube so that you dont just hear the cycling effects.. Yesterday I did a hilly ride from The Glen in Camps Bay all the way up to Signal Hill, this clip shows the ride up The Glen.. http://youtu.be/ssKa9UfKpCY This clip is the ride up to Signal Hill: http://youtu.be/-AEeMKNOkUo So as you can see from these videos, its clear and the light is very effective...you can set the light to how bright you want it...im not gonna get into the techie stuff here, check there site if you into that.... But from a user point of view its very easy...you clip it to your seat post, it fits on any seatpost and there is straps that accommodate any seat...its easy to charge and download the videos, just plug it into your computer with the cable provided in the box....you switch on the camera by pressing the button on the left for 3 seconds, it beeps and it starts recording...the button on the right is for the reflector, you can select if you want the entire light to flash in red or you can have certain parts flash in red..thats it...I uploaded my rides to Youtube and sent it to my buddies.. This camera is also great from a safety point of view as it captures everything behind you...especially with the 1,5m ruling from PPA...when i watched the video, I was nervous to see how close the cars are to me...never really think about that when im actually riding...also good to see how wide the cars swerve to go around you... Saturday I will be riding with more peeps then i'll be able to capture the okes riding behind me:) If you want to buy it, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction....or contact Roger, 021 713 0655, Ridesafe Distributors.
