  2. some mates and I are going down to Howick for a weekend later this year for a bit of R&R&R ((mental)rest and (mental)relaxation and Riding). Karkloof has been on our bucket list for quite some time, so that'll be our primary riding destination, but can those in know give me a couple suggestions of other routes we can ride. We'll get to ride on the Friday once there, all of of Saturday (probably at Karkloof itself) then a short ride on Sunday to sweat out the beer from a visit to the Nottingham Road Brewery the previous evening, before heading back in the morning. As far as accommodation's concerned, I've looked at Old Halliwell Inn and Rockwood Lodges so far.. both seem nice. fanks
  3. Hi all, As we get a lot of queries around trails, accommodation, access, costs, races, skills development and the like in our area (Howick and surrounds); I thought I would just start this thread where a lot of information could be consolidated. Facebook links: https://www.facebook.com/Karkloofmtb https://www.facebook.com/howickmtb https://www.facebook.com/BigWheelCycles https://www.facebook.com/stiveskzn Please note that Big Wheel Cycles are based within the property of St Ives, as is their xc trail and technical skills area. To keep up to date with trail network changes and developments, as well as events and recreational riding it is worth liking these Facebook pages, as well as: https://www.facebook.com/KZNMTB Websites: http://karkloofmtbtrails.co.za/ http://www.howickmountainbiking.co.za/ http://www.kznmtb.co.za http://www.bigwheel.co.za If you have any queries or questions whatsoever on any of the trails in these areas, or need any kind of information drop us a line on the contact details on the web pages. You can also contact me on kath@nsconsulting.co.za for any queries relating to the Sappi Mountain Biking Project and access to trails. In particular, any tour operators should please get in touch with me or with Derek Turvey of the Karkloof Mountain Bike Club, Gordon Beard of Howick Mountain Bike Club or Dwayne Arpin of Big Wheel Cycles depending on where you're wanting to ride.
