  1. I’m in the market to buy a GPS Watch/Activity Tracker. I can’t bring myself to spend in excess of R12000 on the Garmin Fenix that I want, so am wondering what to spend my money on. I have to get do something about my general fitness, post COVID I’ve been battling and feel I need to become a bit more scientific about my training. In this me gone by, I’d start Strava on my phone to just track the activity. Activities are mainly cycling (MTB), a bit of running and swim tracking would be nice too (I will still swim Midmar before I die...) Is the Apple Series 7 worthwhile? What are the shortcomings for cycling? If not Apple, what is the alternative? Garmin 745? Budget up to R8k Any input and advice will be appreciated.
  2. Has anyone ever seen / heard / used or have an Xiaomi AMAZFIT Smart Watch Any opinions would be appreciated. I would love to buy a Garmin Fenix 3 or 5 - But they are just something I cannot afford. That's why I am look at alternative watches https://goo.gl/T8pJ36 -- here is a link to the details of the watch. TIA

  4. Hi guys, using a Polar V650 bike monitor. Today after 95km into a ride it went crazy and all of a sudden added an hour to the duration, as well as added 30km to the distance!! Saved the session and started a new one and figured I'd edit out the last minute and just join the GPX files. Now my monitor has synced both to iPhone, but only the second session to Flowsync. Has anybody experienced this? Is there any way to access the training files on a V650 without flowsync? Want to bliksem it into a million pieces!!

  6. I woke up this morning to find my trusted V800 flashing at me. The back light went on for about 2 seconds and off again. When I asked Polar, they wanted me to send it in for repairs. Further research on the Polar website suggested a soft reset for syncing problems. I tried this and it worked. Simply hold in 4 buttons (light, back up & down) for about 5 seconds. No worries all settings remain. Perhaps a good idea to sync to Flowsync beforehand.
  7. Hey guys Looking at buying my significant other the new Polar M400 GPS watch, we like the look of the watch and I like the price. I would like to find out if any body owns a Polar GPS watch, how is it? Would you recommend it? I have watched a review and one of the cons of the watch was that you could not export your workouts, so you can't load your rides on any other apps like strava or endomondo. Is this true? Thanks
  8. Hi Guys I couldn't find a thread for this, so i thought i'd try. I've been looking at the Polar v650 lately and think it has potential to be better than the Garmin 510. I'd like to find out from people out there that have owned the garmin and moved to polar or that have the Polar what their opinion is on it. Is it worth it? Should i move back to Polar? Cheers,
  9. I have a Polar and a Bryton GPS training device. I am wondering what other peoples experience is with the different types of training support software, not so much the devices themselves. I am fairly disappointed in the Bryton web based analysis tools. Editing of the training is pretty much non existent, the mobile device interface is frustrating and half the buttons/links do not work properly. Cant download my training via my Samsung at the moment due to software issues. I am informed that an updated web site is coming, but not sure when. Hopefully this will allow me to customise the elevation of the rides i do, as it is silly having a training ride on the Highveld with a base elevation set at sea level. I can not even see where the climbs are on my training ride. The Polar software is quite a bit more user friendly, as well as being based on my PC which is nice. Not all info recorded is available to trend either which can be frustrating. Garmin, no info yet. Feedback, abuse, support, etc etc welcome.
