  1. Good morning Hubbers, Anyone know who will service Powertap products in Gauteng? I believe SRAM bought the name, and Bicycle Power has disowned the brand.
  2. Afternoon Hubbers! To those who own or have owned a Powertap wheelset, specifically the G3 ANT+ model, how does one do a software update? I have downloaded, just for the sake of the update, Poweragent. Then I remove the G3 cap from my rear wheel, which has a mini-USB port. I don't know what kind of cable to use to connect to my PC? I used several cellphone charger cables but the computer does not recognise it. Thanks!!
  3. I am looking for a local bike shop that is able to change the battery of a Powertap G3 power meter hub with the proper hub cap wrench in and around Cape Town please?
  4. Offering a unique solution, the P1 pedals by PowerTap are self-contained units, having all the electronics and battery contained in a 196g pedal. They also offer a 0 degree float cleat option as an extra accessory. Click here to view the article
  5. The combination of cold winter mornings and live coverage of the Tour de France makes training indoors the go-to for many cyclists and triathletes alike. Not only can you leave the thermals and toe caps off, but your indoor session can be just as effective (in certain cases, more effective), than training outdoors. There are a huge variety of training apps and aids out on the market, all designed to make your training easier, keep you entertained and make you want to train indoors. Although we are spoilt for choice with all the aids out on the marketing, let’s face it; training indoors isn’t nearly as exciting as getting out there. We know all the tricks in the book; from racing other cyclists online right through to watching the Tour in hope that it will inspire you to push through the next interval set. Although indoor training is mentally tough, there is one key factor that can change it for you. Music. The beat that drives your legs forward, the lyrics that transport you from the confines of four walls, the emotions that come from a few minutes of beautiful noise. Listening to music while you’re training can help your fatigue, boost your mood and helps you feel less pain. Choosing the right type of music for your training is what stands between you and the finish line. We want to know what your top three songs are for training indoors! Every week for the course of three weeks, we will award a pair of CycleOps socks to the best liked song list. At the end of the three weeks, we will award a CycleOps Winter Training Package to the overall top liked list. Turn up the music, close your eyes and let the beat take over. Submissions should be made in the following format, Artist, Song and Album (if known). The winner for each week will be announced every Monday (10th, 17th & 24th July 2017) with the grand price being announced on Tuesday the 25th July 2017
  6. Hi Guys Need some input on my indoor trainer set up. Being eyeing all the activity on Zwift activities etc and would like to enhance my current training experience if possible.. I currently have a Tacx Flow trainer which has served me well for a good few years now. It's paired with a Powertap so I am able to perform structured work outs with ease - via my Garmin. I generally just use the resistance settings of the trainer and my gearing to get into the required power zone. Is it at all possible to get a zwift / trainer road set up? I have being toying with the idea of getting a smart trainer but obviously feel that it might be overkill considering I already have the power meter? What would my options be? A cheaper smart trainer perhaps?
  7. For the last 17 years PowerTap has been creating the best power meters to give cyclists the edge that they’ve been yearning for. Last year PowerTap shook up the power meter market with the introduction of the P1 pedal power meter, the most advanced power meter ever developed. Today the Wisconsin-based cycling power meter manufacturer introduced two new products into their portfolio of pedal-based power meters. The first addition is a new power meter named the P1S, a single -sided version of the world-renowned P1 pedal-based power meter. The second is the much anticipated Advanced Pedal Metrics for P1 pedal users, available exclusively via the PowerTap iOS Mobile App. Click here to view the article
  8. If you’re anything like me indoor training can be a bit of a chore, but often the sensible option to supplement training through winter. Even with a decent trainer and the distraction of TVs or iPads, I quickly get bored and uncomfortable. Enter the CycleOps PowerSync and their Virtual Training software. Click here to view the article
  9. So, I've recently treated myself to a pair of PowerTap P1 pedals. I've trained with them both on the road and on my IDT. I love the data and the real time feedback. I've suffered through a 20 minute FTP test and have that score. No problem here. On Sunday, I'm riding the R4V race. It will be my first with the power meter. What advice do the gurus on Bike Hub have for me in terms of using my new kit in the race.
  10. So, in a story that doesn't bear repeating (because it makes me feel really stupid), I damaged one of my 6 month-old Powertap P1 pedals. I took it to Dave @ Bicycle Power (the local agents) in Rivonia and explained that I was entirely to blame and could the pedal be fixed? They don't have a facility to do that kind of repair locally, so the pedals would need to be sent to the States. Dave proceeded to lend me a pair of demo pedal so I was not left with my power meters. He sent them to America where the one pedal was replaced in its entirety and the other was fully serviced. The pedals were returned with a brand new pair of free cleats (value R 350) The entire process took about 4 weeks, but I was not inconvenienced at all, as I was riding with their demo pedals. I got my repaired and updated pedals back today and the entire process cost just R 500.00. We spend lots of time deciding which products to buy for all our cycling exploits. We sometimes forget that service is as important a requirement as any other. When I am next in the market for an indoor trainer or power meter, there is only one place I will go to make my purchase - Bicycle Power. Thanks, Dave. Your service is exceptional.
