We bought our gardener a Raleigh Nexus 2.0 29" bicycle. The frame is nice but the shifters and V brakes are not good. He took it to a local repair shop and they buggered it up by replacing the rear shaft bolt (so now the warranty is voice) and the hub cone is missing so the whole rear wheel wobbles. I've cycled a lot but know very little about the parts so I'm struggling to find a replacement online that I can buy to fix this. I'll add images here to show the issue. If someone can help me find the right replacement or suggest alternative fix that would be appreciated. He's a young guy from Malawi and he takes great pride in his bicycle which he rides to work every day, so I really want to help him. Hey Hubbers Friend of mine started a Cycle shop with a difference.I do not know if this is a new concept in SA but its the first one that I know of.On site Bike repairs and sales just a phone call away. Hi everyone, I bought a used Giant TCR0 and there are scratch marks on the carbon seatpost. It looks like it could have been caused from the seatpost slipping down. I know this can be quite common but i wanted to find out if there is any way to fix these scratches? I have tried rubbing with toothpaste but that hardly made a difference.

Hi Hubbers! I have an aluminium MTB rim which has started to split open at the point where the rim is joined. While the rim tape and tyre hold the rim together well enough, I can't convert to tubeless because of the air leak. Any suggestions for repair centres in CPT? Will it need to be welded? I figure soldering the joint won't hold well enough Please help!

I've kept an eye out for an 'all in one' multi-tool that includes the tubeless repair essentials, i.e. a plugger & blade, and maybe a reamer. No luck. Anyone seen such a thing? If not in a multi-tool style then a plugger, reamer & thin blade in a fold-out format that's safe for riding with and can be carried alongside a mini-multi-tool in a back pocket. Basics (for a compact lightweight mini-multi-tool):~ Plugger + 3x plug storage (tubeless repair).~ Blade, thin to cut excess plug (tubeless repair).~ Allen Keys: 4mm, 5mm, 6mm & 8mm.~ Torx 25.~ Chain tool + quicklink storage. Extras (for a bigger version):~ Screwdriver, flat & philips.~ Reamer (tubeless repair).~ CO2 adaptor.~ Tire leaver.~ Allen Keys: 2mm, 3mm.~ Spoke keys.

Hi everyone So during the week one day when I got home from work, the first thing my kids tell me is that our domestic accidentally knocked over my bike. I didn't think much of it and didn't bother checking if the bike is ok (yes I know, I should be lynched for not checking my baby immediately!). Took it out this morning for a wash and I see this: Obviously it needs to be repaired. What I want to know from the guys that know carbon well, is this now a weak spot in my frame? If I leave it like that and just keep on riding the bike is there a chance of the frame cracking/breaking at some stage? And I don't suppose this is enough to warrant an insurance claim?

So what does everyone carry to repair tubeless tyres out on the trails? There are many new products on the market for tubess repairs, yet I find that some people will never let go of the spare tube as a backup. What works? What not? PS: I tried to search, but only very old posts came up.

So this happened... Anybody tried to weld something like this? Or any other bright ideas? I'm a cheapskate so want to fix it.

Hey Is there perhaps anyone that know of someone who does saddle restoration? I got a nasty tear in mine and was wondering if it would work out cheaper to have it re-covered or get a new one? In any area around Blouberg or Bellville if possible Any advice will help - thank you

I'm looking for a place that can repair the buckle of my road shoe. I'm based in Stellenbosch. It's a Suplest Carbon shoe bought from CWC two years ago and I love them... The buckle (and one strap) got ripped clean off in collision with another rider, but I stayed upright!

I've had a search, without satisfactory results. Does anyone know a specialist or has had experience of recovering a saddle? I have a Prologo Scratch Pro which is incredibly comfortable, but now looks pretty scabby. I have tried a bunch of different perches but nothing comes close to the invisibility of the Prologo; i.e. when I ride I don't notice it's there. I'd like to get someone to tidy it up. Furniture/car upholsterers were mentioned in the search, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone in the Cape Town area. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where I could buy one of these? Cyclelab and Cajees do not have at the moment. I believe quite a number of variations so hard to keep stock. This is not the ideal plug to have on a bike light, it's just too fiddly. Does anyone know anyone who can repair this? And hopefully change it to a more standard (jack) plug? Much appreciated.

Afternoon hubbers, About 2 years ago I purchased a set of Mavic Crossride MTB wheels from evobikes (see link below) http://www.evobikes.co.za/wheels/wheelsets-mtb/mavic-crossride-disc-29-wheel-set.html The wheels have been absolutely flawless, I have not had to true or even tighten a spoke since the purchase. Unfortunately, day 3 of a recent stage race took a heavy toll on the rear freehub and I now need to replace it. See the video below So, my question to thebikehub hive mind is the best place to find a replacement freehub. I live in Lusaka Zambia and have ordered parts from RSA before but I want to make sure I get the right part and with Mavic you really do need to make sure you have the correct part. Over the weekend I went trail running in Gordons Bay, long story short my 310 got ripped off my arm whilst tumbling down a ravine. I bought it brand new from someone on the hub (so no slips etc) about 4 months ago. Boxed with all accessories, manuals etc. Has anyone got experience with going through Navworld to upgrade to a newer model and pay in some? How would this work? The plastic where the metal pin fits in is now cracked and opened up. Thanks in advance!

It's Friday.. I asked my wife to take my front tyre to the Leigh's Cycle Center at the Pavillion as she was already headed that way and the tyre needed sealant and to be pumped up. Got a phone call back saying it is done and the damage is R209!!! Maybe I am not used to the prices in Durban but last year I got my tyre filled with sealant and pumped up at my LBS in Pretoria East MAHALA! They claim that the bottle of sealant used costs R109 and the labour was R100.. To pump up a tyre! I called them and said that was ridiculous and the guy on the phone replied "OK Cool". I guess I will have to continue my quest to find a LBS in Durban... Maybe It's more worthwhile to trek up the hill to Greg Minaar's in PMB once a month.

Hi, does anybody know of a reputable person in Pretoria to do repairs on a steel frame that is cracked by the lugs?

I'm looking for someone who can do aluminium frame repair in Johannesburg - preferably around Northcliff. I had some bad luck and reversed into something with my bike on the back. The results are not nice to look at - see below pictures. The frame is bent as is the back wheel and disc brake. Bike is a large 2014 Scott Scale 960. Any recommended repairers? Thanks in advance

I've searched for this topic and nothing comes up recently so apologies if it has been discussed and I haven't managed to find the thread. I'm looking for the best place to service/repair a MTB in Cape Town please - preferably city centre area but will also look at other Cape suburbs if needed. Any advice based on recent experiences would be great. Thanks a lot.
