  5. Hi guys, Just to let you all know that the nominations process has come to an end, and once all was counted, there were 9 nomination e-mails, resulting in 9 lucky individuals who were nominated to the TokaiMTB committee for the year of 2015. Notices will be going out to those nominated, and they will need to indicate whether they are prepared to run for a position on the TokaiMTB committee. The cut-off for this process is 6th February. Once that process has been completed, and the final shortlist has been compiled, a list of the Nominees will be posted here, and on the Tokai Trail Builders Association and Tokai MTB Facebook page. Please remember that in order to vote for your preferred committee member to be in the Committee, you need to be present at the AGM, which is being held on 18th February at the River Club in Observatory @ 17h30. In order for a Nominee to be eligible for a position on the Committee, they too need to be there for the AGM. Remember - NO proxy votes allowed. You MUST be there to vote. On the evening, each Nominee will get an opportunity to tell us a little bit about themselves and why they believe they will be a good fit for the committee. You will then be given a small form with 5 blank spaces, where you will indicate your chosen committee members. Portfolios will not be assigned at the AGM, these will be decided by the committee itself when it meets for the first time following the AGM. Thanks all for your participation, and I expect to see you at the River Club on the 18th to vote for your committee members. Myles Mayhew
  6. Hopefully I'm not duplicating something already done. While completing my annual leave form (December holidays), for HR, it got me thinking about my ride plans for December. Considering I plan to be 1600Km away from my normal (sometimes boring) training routes, I thought it might be useful to know where other hubbers will be riding (not only for me, but for everyone planning on riding at their holiday destinations). I know there are the various threads already listing where group rides take place, but this can be one central place for the December holiday rides only (say 15-Dec to 05-Jan, give or take a few days). Kleinmond, WC, is my base for 2 weeks - so a few rides to GB/Somerset West, Hermanus, or at Oak Valley/Lebanon Forests are on my list. No skinny wheels for me this year, but I'm willing to join a road ride if there are any.
  7. I often see mountain bikers in and around the Beaulieu Area and know how much cyclists love coffee stops and a good breakfast. Cafe Bonsai (Located in Sawasdee- The Bonsai and Orchid Nursery)serves amazing coffee!! and they serve very cheep breakfasts so you can even afford it with the cash you take along for the ride . Just thought I would share this great find with all of you :)its a good place to meet up and get your daily dose of caffeine.
  8. Hi guys Just want to let you know that I was robbed whilst riding on the railway servitude road in Sir Lowry's. This is a popular route for local MTB'ers and it's a very sad day when such a beautiful place to ride becomes too dangerous. I was robbed by two guys with weapons but thankfully I'm OK. They stole my Polar HRM (S725X) but were too stupid to find my cell phone in the secret pocket of my shorts. I reported the incident at Sir Lowry's police station, they were very helpful! Sadly they told me I was the second robbery up there this morning. Please if you're going to ride up there don't go alone. Also, if anyone is offered a Polar S725X HRM with the profile 'Dino' on it, please let me know.
