  1. Tufo is not the most advertised brand out there, and in my opinion also very underrated and unknown to many. This year brought some new experiences for me, including a switch to Tufo tires - TR 11 (650g) at the rear and - TR 14 (650g) up front since May. The combination has proven enjoyable. Running them at a soft 12 psi, (like I do with other brands as well) the responsiveness has been impressive. Despite their lightweight design, these tires are surprisingly durable. Regular pressure checks are essential for any tire and when properly inflated, they offer excellent corner grip, mud handling, and speed. What sets Tufo apart is its handcrafted approach, ensuring each product receives careful attention, distinguishing it from mass-produced alternatives.
  2. Hi guys! I’m looking for two Maxxis DTH 26x2.3 skinwall tyres for a steel frame bike that I’m busy with… Does anyone know where I can get these specific tyres?
  3. I am in the market for a new set of tires and found a great deal on the Pirelli Enduro range through Takealot. However, there are two options, they offer the Soft range and then the Medium/Mixed range at a bit of higher price. Both are well within budget, I am just unsure which would be best for Cape Town and it's surrounds terrain. Any advice would be appreciated! Enduro Soft : https://www.takealot.com/pirelli-scorpion-27-5-x-2-6-enduro-soft-terrain-cycling-tyre/PLID71579396 Enduro Mixed : https://www.takealot.com/pirelli-scorpion-27-5-x-2-6-enduro-mixed-terrain-cycling-tyre/PLID71579393 I ride mostly short burst enduro trails (10-25km) in and around Cape Town.
  4. I have ventured into the ebike era. I am enjoying my commute to work a lot, especially when the south easter is pumping. I have the Duro Dominator tubeless ready on the bike but somehow I do not have a lot of confidence in them. Reason being it seems to puncture easily and over bumps etc it bottoms out. Had a flat yesterday with no puncture to be found but lots of seepage between tire and rim??? Am I right that this is not really a good commuter tire and I should rather go for a little more expensive durable tires??
  5. The basic philosophy of Tufo Tyres is specialization in the development and production of tubular tyres – the best option for cycling sport. From the very beginning, TUFO worked hand in hand with many world champions and elite racers from all cycling disciplines. This cooperation makes the transition of theoretical knowledge from development and research into new products much easier. These days TUFO products are manufactured to the highest standards conforming to the strictest criteria in the races for a podium finish. https://www.tufo.com/en/ SAVE 30% ON THE XC 11 TR 29" - NOW ONLY R695.00 TUFO XC11 TR Tubeless Ready 29″ MTB Tyre Tubeless-ready all-purpose MTB tyre intended for XC and marathon racing. The tread pattern of the XC11 TR tyre provides low rolling resistance, is self-cleaning and has exceptionally good grip in a wide range of weather and terrain conditions. Because that’s what you need from a high-performance race tyre. TUFO ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES OIL SILICA A soft compound (60 Shore A) developed for MTB cross country and marathon tyres. Adding a reasonable amount of oil to a polymer blend with Activated Silica improves traction and reduces rolling resistance. SIDEWALL PROTECTION A specially formulated slippery sidewall strip protects the most vulnerable part of certain MTB tubulars. This special sidewall strip allows the tubular to slide off sharp edges without damaging the tyre carcass. VECTRAN PUNCTURE BARRIER This most effective anti-puncture system is placed directly under the tread area. The core of the anti-puncture system is made from VECTRAN – liquid crystal polymer (LCP) fibres which are five times stronger than steel. VECTRAN also offers outstanding cut resistance and high impact resistance at a low weight – highly demanding properties for high-end bicycle tyres. VECTRAN PUNCTURE BARRIER not only provides the best possible puncture protection but also ensures precise cornering and improved stability. SHOP NOW
  6. Hi, I'm currently doing a much needed upgrade to my bike and I'm in the market for new tires front and rear. I ride a 29" hardtail for XC and only do 3-4 races a year, so I want the most comfortable tire combination for my style. I'm currently considering a Maxxis Ardent 2.4 in the front and Ikon 2.2 in rear. (Currently run Ikon F/R). Any other combinations that I should consider? Or any comments on my choice? Thx

  8. Onza has been around for longer than most will know, having started life in the late 80's producing tires, headsets, bar ends and other bits. For whatever reason (it was before my time) they disappeared from the scene until the mid 2000's when a Swiss-based company decided to revive the name. Click here to view the article
