  1. Hi all, Barry Shaw is a passionate cyclist who has been extensively involved in the cycling community for years. Presently Chairman of Cresta Wheelers cycle club, he has been involved with the club for a significantly long time. His contribution to the Audax (long distance) community is invaluable, and without his input would not operate efficiently. He embodies true selflessness in that he puts others first, above his own needs with his generous nature. He gives of his time without expecting anything back. This special man was admitted to the emergency room due to severe pain from blood clot, intestinal paralysis and ulcerated colon trauma. He is the strongest 64 year old you will find on a bicycle. I am posting this to help raise cash to cover the medical bills so he can focus on his recovery. Please visit our campaign page here;https://www.backabuddy.co.za/champion/project/barry-shaw Thank you so much for your support, any help really goes along way and is appreciated a lot. Regards, Kellen
  2. We all have those lonely single socks lying around with an unmatched partner. Now they can come to good use! Looking to pair single socks to donate to the homeless. Based in Rondebosch, Cape Town. Can do collections too. Please please donate. Every sock makes a difference!
  3. Hi all, After our Qhubeka bike we have found that a real issue are the commuters being invisible without lights. So we are thinking of handing out some lights and reflectors. Trying to find the "best" light to give away, needs to be good price, last long, simple to operate etc. Suggestions? Reflectors? Thinking of a roll of that yellow automotive tape cut out and help stick that on the guys bikes. Any other suggestions? We have got a small corporate who said they will pledge a little cash into this as well. So want to make the bucks help as many dudes as possible. Shot
  4. Good evening all Hubbers!! As I won't be going anywhere this festive season, I have decided to spend my last energy of 2016 on my bike, getting the "base" in for 2017. On these early morning rides I have spotted many commuters, those folk who cannot afford vehicles or a taxi fare to get to work. What worries me most about these commuters, other than the state of their bicycles, is the lack of protective head gear or any lights, and I cannot sit here and preach to my peers about them having to buy expensive gear and not do something about getting these commuters some affordable helmets and front and back lights. For those who are more experienced in the donations and collection area, how do I go about starting this initiative? I know some people might be skeptical to help, but let's think about it this way - you perhaps cannot relate to him in a social way, but he is using the only tool he knows and can afford, a bicycle, to get to his place of honest work. Why potentially lose a hard working South African in an accident that could possibly have been avoided with some lights, or prevent horrible injury with a reliable helmet? Thanks all, looking forward to hear from you all!!
  5. Hi Everyone, as you know the Cape Argus Cycle race is this Sunday, and the BiBi Rouge Cycling Team will be using this opportunity to raise money for our two charities. To do this, the lovely men in our team have volunteered to be sponsored to ride the whole 106km race in pink Tutu's! To sponsor one or more of the men, you can go to the below link and choose your amount (you can sponsor them R1 or R2 per kilometer the ride or anything between R50 and R1000) and it will then allow you to pay with a credit card or EFT though a secure site where your details will not be shared or stored. Alternatively you can email us on cycleteam@sabrinakennedy.co.za for EFT details. These guys need motivation to look fabulous for the biggest cycle race in SA, so we appreciate any donation! http://www.sabrinakennedy.co.za/online-store.php#!/BiBi-Rouge-Charity-Cycle-Team-Sponsorship/p/47878940/category=12453602 The two charities we sponsor are the Lunchbox fund- giving Children in Townships a School lunch every day, and The South African Animal Welfare, specifically to aid dog fighting in townships. Please share this so that your friends and family can help too! THANKS!
  6. Hi Guys, I am in the process of building up a bike for a new friend. He is a teacher with limited financial resources. I lend him my bike and took him for a spin at Red Barn. He loved every moment of it. I promised myself that I will slap together a MTB for this guy to call his own. I contacted a few friends and went to my spares bin. I bought a few parts via the classifieds on the hub. I managed to get together a 26" frame, rear suspension and a number of bits and pieces. Unfortunately I am still in need of a few spares. The big items are a Shock, rear wheel and handlebar. Anybody on this forum interested in donating a few old pieces or interested in selling it to me for a steal? Please feel free to have a look at our website: http://bombcenturion.wix.com/bombcenturion or check us out on facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bomb-Centurion/350233275079058 to see what we do. We have donated a number of bikes to guys and girls. We are not in divernick's category when it comes to building and donating bikes, but we do what we love and what we can. Thanks for considering. PS Pics will obviously be posted at some stage. :-)
