  1. Hi All Over the last few months I have been busy with a little side project involving a blog called Simpler Cycling, where i have been writing about well, stuff about cycling. I am passionate about everything cycling and would like to think I am a pretty good researcher. I have a teaching background and the idea behind the blog was to create a platform where I could combine them all and help spread the knowledge to help inform / teach other cyclists some of the stuff I have learnt over the years. I have made a point of writing the articles in a conversational, lighthearted style that cuts to the point and is designed to make some of this complicated stuff easy to understand for cyclists at any level. The motivation to get started came mostly from riding buddies and members of the cycling club up here in JHB who have been pushing me to get writing for the longest time. I have written about 10 articles so far and I have been kind of “testing” the content on those closest to me. So to get to the point…. My father in Law, Werner Voigt, passed away on 2 Jan 2018 after 20 days in the ICU at Milpark in JHB, he was on full life support for most of the time. He died from multiple Organ Failure as a result of Congestive heart failure amongst many other complications. He was due to turn 70 in June 2018. He moved here from Germany in the early 70’s and his wife Evelyn (my wife’s mother) died when my wife was less than a year old (40 years ago - don’t tell her I put that up here!). He raised my wife on his own and they were very close. There are no siblings or surviving family members, other than my wife and I. As I hope you can understand, 20 days in the ICU, including an op to remove his colon and a funeral to try and organise has left me with an expensive problem to try and deal with that is far beyond anything we are able to cope with. What I have done over the last few nights is to compile a 55 page E book that features a collection of the best articles from the blog so far related to training, getting faster and understanding a bit more about your bike. I am giving the E book away for free, and all I ask is that if you found it useful to offer a donation, however small, so we can at a minimum try and get the old man buried as soon as possible and maybe make a dent in some of these bills. If you aren’t willing to donate, If you could at least give the twitter or facebook page a like and help spread the word. Or if you could send through some comments / ideas for future articles it would be appreciated. I don't mind if you share / distribute copies of the Ebook. I don’t need to know who you are if you decide to contribute and have a spare savings account setup with Capitec that I want to use for the fundraising. MR C DE WET Capitec 1426808214 B Code 470010 Thanks for taking the time to read. I hope you enjoy the blog / Ebook and it helps make a difference to your cycling!
