  1. I was wondering why you would choose Scott's HMX SL carbon frame over the HMF carbon frame? Just for reference, here are 2 mountain bikes that make use of these 2 frames: SCOTT SCALE RC 900 SL BIKE https://www.scott-sports.com/za/en/product/scott-scale-rc-900-sl-bike?article=269720008 SCOTT SCALE RC 900 PRO BIKE https://www.scott-sports.com/za/en/product/scott-scale-rc-900-pro-bike?article=269722007 If both frames had the exact wheelset and groupset on, what benefit would the HMX SL frame give over the HMF frame? If you were blind folded would you be able to notice the difference? I'm not a pro, but i do long distance riding and trail riding, that's about it. I'm competitive n my group, but not a pro. The pro bicycle has a horrible brown and red colour to it! I would love to hear your opinions.
  2. I am currently working on a project to map South African trails I will be including strava segments as well as google maps coordinates to make them easier to find. Let me know if you have any suggestions of where to ride next! Let's map as much as we can and get more people on the trails!
  3. Where: Inanda Valley When: 30-31 July Over the last couple years of riding in the valley, Rohan has discovered some trails that are perfect for the more adventurous rider. We have decided to dedicate a weekend to playing around on these trails. - Riders will be shuttle assisted to the top - These are raw, natural trails and some of them have never been fully ridden, so we advise riders to bring their body armor. - To keep cost low, we are asking riders to bring certain meals (please see poster for more info) Cost - R750 BYO Tent - R950 Safari tent & stretcher provided If you are keen to join in on the fun, give me a shout on info@detourtrails.co.za Cheers Adele
  4. With kilometres of natural trails, Lesotho is truly a trail riders paradise! The 2015 Lesotho Extreme was an action packed weekend of incredible trail riding and spectacular scenery. 5. Hi all I was introduced to mountain biking by a work colleague about 8 months ago and fell in love with the sport. Around that time I went and bought myself a new 2015 Specialized Rockhopper and have been having a blast. As I've been gaining confidence I've been riding the bike increasingly harder. It has now reached a point where I feel I need to upgrade, especially due to the fork which is an entry level Suntour XCT. I really enjoy trail riding, bailing down rocky descents, the occasional jumping etc, but I do not currently have the budget to buy a Stump Jumper or equivalent that's probably more geared towards this. I am looking for some advice on 29er bikes I can look at in the 13/15K range that will at least provide as good a quality frame as the Rockhopper as well as a better fork (and hopefully some other hardware improvements as well). It looks like the next Specialized upgrade would be the Crave, but at 18K falls just out of my budget. I am quite happy with a hard-tail, so a rear suspension is not a requirement. I've considered upgrading the fork and wheels on my Rockhopper, but so far all advice points to selling it and buying a new bike. Regards Riaan
  6. Hi All. If you're looking for some amazing Gravity orientated, vehicle assisted riding this may be the trip for you. http://www.detourtrails.co.za/rad-rides-all-mountain-tours/ The trails are stupidly good and are some of the best anywhere. Sections will technically challenge the most skilled rider but your average "enduro" rider will be right at home and have a great time. Check the website for details or check the previous discussion in this forum from one of the scouting trips: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/137578-lesotho-all-mountain-weekend/?hl=lesotho See you on the hill.
