Dude, for xc nothing beats scott because of the geometry of the frame. Don't go for merida-its crap and overpriced! A gt Hang in there and watch the forum for bargains - I bought a Scott Scale Ltd with full XTR, Reba carbon fork and Mavix SL's for R8k 2 months ago. Its like buying a Pagani Zonda for Polo money and I'd like to see a R8k 29er beat me on a XC course (unless off- course Burry is piloting it)...
