zappa Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Event Name: Sani Spoors Drak Challenge MTB RideWhen: 21 January 2012Where: Underberg!, Kwazulu-NatalCategory: MTBThe Sani Spoors Drak Challenge MTB Ride is a 23km MTB single track ride that follows the Umzimkulu River along the course of the first day of the Global Trader Drak Challenge Canoe Race. The ride will take place on Saturday, 21st January, 2012, starting at 11am, above Phoenix Nasty rapid (approx. 4km from the start of the Global Trader Drak Challenge). This ride will provide a wonderfully unique opportunity to ride alongside one of the most spectacular rivers in the country, traversing through unspoilt mountains, along some of the best single track on offer anywhere. When & Where- 21st January 2012- Start is at Phoenix Nasty (Drak Gardens Road) at 11h00- Finish is at Swartberg Road bridge, same as Drak Challenge Day 1 Registration & Entries- Registration/entries are at Underberg School on Friday 2 – 9 pm, or at the start 9 – 10.30- Entry fee is R90 per person- Only for riders 16 yrs and older- Race briefing at 10.45 at start All riders will be required to sign a Sani Spoors indemnity form at registration / entry. The entry fee includes a day license to ride the Sani Spoors tracks, giving the riders a further 20km of scenic river and forest single track to explore……Go to Event Page
zappa Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Entries into the Global Trader Drakensberg Challenge Canoe race are nearing being capped. Let your seconds and family cycle the Sani Spoors Drak Challenge MTB Ride or if you are in an early batch do the MTB ride after you finish paddling. It's all downhill anyway.
zappa Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 In case of a low level start for the paddlers, the end of the MTB ride will be at the Sani Spoors offices and Duck and Spoors Restaurant, and not at the Swartberg bridge. No change to the start position.
