In light of several recent tragic events (another cyclist knocked down in Jnb this morning according to Cape Talk) this occurred to me: PPA has a seemingly strong presence at most CYCLE events but these are CYCLE events attended by CYCLISTs. How about targeting motorists? We know where cycling hotspots are why not set up awareness campaigns on a Saturday morning... I can't be the only one to think of this surely.

To find ppl to help man these things shouldn't be hard judging by the amount of outrage on the site at the moment. And at the same time one can also target the rogue cyclist who does not obey the road etiquette rules.

Chapmans Peak, the Cradle there are more I'm sure. If we can engage with motorists on a more one on one maybe we can change perceptions and encourage that little bit more tolerance.....

Sorry resurrecting this...

Just FYI not one of the postmen, that work for the South African post office, that work in my area wear either a helmet or a reflective vest of sorts while they are out on the road... Now why this is I am not sure BUT surely this is what PPA is mandated to address?

Thanks for pointing me there Icycling. Felt a bit strange writing a whole long essay on the topic above when the thread was seemingly one about finance but I'm good at following instructions :)
