What I have used on the last 2 rides works well. Remember this is on the road.

1. Use a small Petzel Headlamp. Good for a few days worth of burntime and more than enough light for most riding on the road.

2. Extemelights, not sure of the model, but good for 6-7hrs on dim. With the two of them interchanging I am good for a long while on my own.

When riding with a mate I only use my light when I am pacing, so big savings there.

Spoke to the extreme lights guys at the expo, does the dynamo not weight alot and affect rolling resistance or am I over complicating things ?

Published stats are between 2% and 5%.

I've found it barely noticeable on flattish terrain, but could tell it was there when climbing. I like having a backup that will effectively go on indefinitely with no need of batteries. The life of my rechargeable is such though that the times I have used it recently have largely been when a fellow rider's light died and they borrowed my light or battery pack, and I moved over to the dynamo. The perceived resistance is more in my head I think - I've used it on long night stretches and kept more than enough speed up without tiring

Audaxing hasn't ended in the Cape just because PBP is done and out the way for another 4 years. Schedules for 2015 and early 2016 have just been updated:

A revised Cape 1000 is back on there too:

Cold weather defeated the last ride. Maybe this time someone will be the first to complete a 1,000km BRM on South African soil!
