  1. 1. Are you keen to 'race' your oldie hanging in the garage?

    • Count me in, I'm dusting my old bike off already.

    • Cool idea, but I won't be able to make it to the race.

    • I don't have an old bike.

    • Even if I had one, I'd rather be riding some flashy carbon thank-you.

  2. 2. If you chose option 1 above: Will you be bringing something a little special that you'd like to show off (a concourse of sorts)?

    • Yes, I want to show my sexy machine off.

    • Nope, she's old...and she ain't pretty.

Any dates yet? I just so happens that I've met some growers in this region that 'need' to see me. The sooner I get the dates the sooner I can start lubricating cogs at my office. Super excited to join this event.

VW Herald Tour de Velo Classiqque

Managed to get dates.

The EXPO, where we'd like to have a display of our bikes, opens on the Friday 30th January 2015.

The MTB event, at Addo, is on Saturday 31st. This is the day we'd like to have a CONCOURSE, really show off the old steeds. Then a short ride, maybe 30 km, along the beachfront.

Sunday 1st February is the road race, where most of us, I think, will ride the 50km route, slowly!!

Entries should open next week, but by the end of October at the latest.

I have spoken to one or two guys and hopefully a few gals who would be keen to make it an memorable event. Back from Spain mid Nov when I will put together some options for us from Gauteng.

The Idea is to arrange safe and affordable transport of our babies and then a safe place to store them. I will be driving down and will look to borrow a large trailer. Perhaps we can drive in convoy like I used to do for Herald and Argus years ago.

Will rely upon cycling family in PE to assist with safe storage.

Further details to follow.

Focusing on some bull fighting and lots of siesta time at the moment?

Great idea and I hope you get the support you deserve for putting this together. Last year we came across L'Eroica event in Tusacany. One stage - 209km on pre-87 bikes and most of it on gravel roads. I was immediately taken with the concept and am sure SA is ready for this sort of appreciation of our cycling heritage. I'm in.

BUMP

Unfortunately thee orgnisors have declined to give us any space for a CONCOURSE type display, or anything else.

A pity, but it's their event!

So I'll probably take only 1 bike up, the bike I'll ride!

Just checked on the VW Herald website and!!!!!!!!

Seems they are promoting 'older' bikes riding the 'family' rides on the Saturday.

Offering spot prizes and all.

Not sure where this has come from, it's not what we asked for, so I expect it is a miiss comm. somewhere, but still very, very, very welcome!!!!!
