Anybody got some knowledge into this race??Will be doing the 80km, the 50km is a nice route, has some rolling hills, nice flat portions and 2 fairly tough hills as you go past the Krugersdorp game reserve. There is always wind in the vicinity so inevitably you have some tail and head winds on the course.

JJDT Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I'm not for this route there are much better "safer routes" that could be chosen. The stretch to Hekpoort on that narrow road is a disaster waiting to happen. The road is so narrow that it barely fit a truck or bus safely in a lane. For a Saturday morning IMO to have a cycle race is dangerous on that road because of traffic towards Hekpoort and also to Krugersdorp. Basically for this race it is each to their own because most of the time you have to ride single file no space for a bunch, that is possibly the reason for the low number of riders.
sdaghers Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 I really enjoyed the race but I must agree that the route was not the safest however we stayed in single file up most the climbs which seemed to work well and the cars/trucks that passed seemed to be well aware of us as many put their hazards on.
