When is the UCI going to take its head out its arse and actually manage the sport in a way that benefits the sport?

the aso still hold the trump card' date=' though, the tour. if that's run under french law, there'll be k@k
[/quote']

The protour is and always was a complete stuff up in terms of sport. I am convinced it was a money making scheme from the start, and all it did was drive up the drug abuse by the peleton, drive up the costs for sponsors, and force more sponsors out of the sport and leave more riders struggling to find employment. Christian Prudhomme should be made pres of the UCI as well, then we'd see a dramatic turnaround.

The UCI has mismanaged cycling especially on a pro level for years, and must hold a large portion of the blame for the mess its in now.

The ASO has done what they could, for years they negotiated with Verbruggen to no avail, witness the UCI stance "We are cleaning up cycling - drug abuse - we will do better to clean up cycling - drug abuse and so on, so who can blame them for looking after themselves.

ASO has a massive investment in cycling which it is keen to protect, and as doping is a criminal offense in France, for ASO to use  the French Cycling federation which has legal status is probably the right decision to prevent future doping issues.

Certainly the UCI has not proved itself to be competant at doing it.

Personally I dont think it will do anything to appease tensions, especially if there is an issue.
