Dave/Nigel - I know you guys probably cringed as soon as you saw the topic started, but what can we expect for stages at the Giba Enduro. Got some time off the week before but will be away for most of that time, but keen to get some practice runs in.

5 stages as far as i remember

One trail using a modified version of Gravity that no-one will suspect

Two trails that go backwards in places so I cant say more than that.

Two trails finishing on the lawn at the Cafe! ....

lots of beer!

Definitely not as technical as the KZN Series round that we had ...

We are NOT using Snake Cafe (Enduro trail on the website) that starts by the downhill.

We have 1 BRAND new stage that we havent raced before ... (its shortish, but should be fun)

and then each other stage also has new elements to it ... so some sections will be familiar, while others have not been raced before.

OH AND TIMING .................

Giba are using the KZNMTB chip system ON ITS OWN ...

This is the first event that YOU THE RIDER will be in charge of your own starts and finishes ...

I dont think they will have marshals etc on stage and there is NO BACKUP TIMING (as far as i know) ....

This is the same as Trans Provence! .... so MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TAGGED IN AND TAGGED OUT ....

KZNMTB have had 3  tests with the system and having backups - and in each instance there have been only 2 or 3 riders who missed a tag station ... so that is rider error ....  So we know the system works ....

So this will be standard from now on as far as i understand ...

YOU are responsible for your timing in stages ... so make sure you tag in and out correctly... DONT ROLL START!!!!

Bleek about no Snake Cafe, it's my favorite line at Giba!

its not in because we are wanting to keep the Giba Enduro as a more family event.

So we didnt want to use the hectic stuff. Wanted to bring in more riders and introduce them to the discipline without too many offs.

But dont worry - we have some good plans already for next years Provincials.

Would love to get in on these event's! Don't think im ready yet though...

Dude, the whole point of the Giba Gravity Enduro is for people new to the sport to try it out, most of the lines are normal trails just done in a different direction, and you could ride them comfortably on a 29'er hardtail...

Come down on Saturday and have a go...

I have absolutely no protective gear, so literally not ready. I spent my life savings on the bike!

You shouldn't need too much protective gear, as long as you have a helmet you will be fine.
