Event Name: Ride The Rhenoster - Fundraising For Conservation
When: 13 September 2015
Where: Doornrandje, Gauteng
Category: MTB

Ride the Rhenoster 2015 is the 8th annual event in this conservation area.

The Ride is technically challenging with lots of single track and plenty of climb. The event has a regular following, commenting "Would not miss it for anything", "Its not for sissies!", "Awesome ride", "You should offer it every month".

There are three distances this year:

  • the regular tough ride of 40km (only for the fit!),
  • the shorter and only a little less challenging 20km,
  • and for the first time, a 12km novice route.

On the 40km Ride expect more than 840 meters of climb. All routes have short distances on dirt roads, some jeep tracks and plenty of single track.

This event is a Ride and not a race, so please pause to appreciate the setting - fund raising is for the conservation of the natural setting.

Medical team, sweeper and recovery vehicle | Refreshments sponsored by Sir Juice | Regret no prizes or medals.

By popular demand 2015 features once again "Legstrong".  Start out at 1380meters woth a magnificent view of the region, and sweep down to the river edge at 1283 meters, and back up on "Legstrong Hill" in the space of 2km.

Legstrong is situated on private land, owned by Alistair Armstrong (get it?).  Typically, the Ride allows access over private property which would generalyl not be accessible to riders.  The Ride is a unique experience, even for those who "sneak" into the area north of Northern Farm.
