This event is specially designed as an introduction to the wonderful world of cycling… we also encourage our more experienced riders to bring a newcomer to cycling to this event and ride the event with her! Pre-entries only, closing at 10h00 on Friday 30 October 2015. No late entries or on-the-day entries, sorry!ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS22 km (untimed)New to cycling? Try the 22 km route! This route is the flattest of the three with only a few gentle drags, following an anti-clockwise loop from Simonsvlei to the Klapmuts 4-way, Franschhoek/Backsberg road, and Simondium/R45 to finish on the double lane just outside Simonsvlei. 38 km & 53 kmLike the 22 km, the medium route follows an anti-clockwise route from Simonsvlei. While the short route turns left at the Klapmuts 4-way, both 38 km and 53 km routes continue straight across the intersection before turning left onto the Elsenburg road.38 km: At the end of the Elsenburg road, the 38 km route turns left onto the R44 to climb past Delvera before the descent past Wiesenhof, turning right at the new traffic lights onto the Franschhoek road past Backsberg to follow the 22 km route from there to the finish. 53 km: At the end of the Elsenburg road, the 53 km turns right onto the R44 towards Stellenbosch, with a few tough climbs on this section to warm up the legs before the long climb over Helshoogte. After recovering on the descent past Boschendal, riders will turn left onto the R45 to join up with the other two routes at the Vrede-en-Lust/Backsberg intersection from where all three distances follow the same route to the finish. DIRECTIONS TO VENUEFrom the N1, take Exit 47 (Klapmuts / Stellenbosch). Turn right onto the R44 (go underneath the N1 bridge), direction Stellenbosch. Continue for 650 metres and turn left onto Sandringham Road (R101) at the Klapmuts 4-way intersection. Simonsvlei Wine Estate will be 5.5km along on your right hand side. Please use the secure parking inside the venue only - we strongly recommend that you do not park on the grass verge alongside the R101.From Paarl, follow the main road/R45 south towards Cape Town. Simonsvlei Wine Estate will be on your left hand side shortly after leaving Paarl. Follow the signs to the secure parking inside the venue. Men are only allowed to enter the 22 km only if looked after by a child u/12 at all times. :-)Coffee and light snacks will be available before the start. After the event, great food stalls will be available (cash only) while Simonsvlei wines will be available at discounted prices to participants. Your other half is most welcome to wait for you at the venue while looking after the kids at the Canal Walk Kids’ Zone and jumping castle.
